With our full back issues I’d like to see 4231 Miley thiaw schar hall tonali bruno Murphy wolt Barnes wissa
-
The passing of KDB The leadership of Kompany The energy of Yaya The touch of David Silva The toughness of Fernandinho The talismanic nature of Aguero All in one. So important to us.
-
Missing Pope and Botman in place of Murphy That is then our first choice team of players
-
The highest quality all-round player we've had in terms of skills, leadership, drive, passion, love for the club, desire to win, ambition etc. Total package. Speed is the only thing anyone can say against him. If he had that as well he would be at Real Madrid. He wouldn't look out of place at one of those superclubs.
-
There's some very exciting names in that list. Smit Kobel Samu Scalvini All four would secure the future - an extremely strong spine with huge potential. Probably 200m worth of signings there though. Could let Botman go potentially if Scalvini came in. Or alternatively Burn and Schar are getting old too. Saw Gallagher available for 26m - also another option Finally would like to see some full back options and a high level replacement for Gordon mentioned soon. Not Elanga level - more like elite tier level.
-
Ashworth did well in his short time here in hindsight even if it’s just Tino Hall and Tonali alone all three are key players. All signed in one summer.
-
Has Crystal Palace written all over Give them Willock plus 50m for Wharton
-
The season before Bruno played DM / 6 and we went on a winning run. Last season Tonali sat there at DM and we went on that run Miley could be the 6 that unlocks best of both worlds Bruno and Tonali as 8s for us???
-
Gordon was never a purple. Can't believe we lost Minteh and Anderson to keep this guy, especially when we had Barnes to come in to replace in already.
-
Joao Pedro is wildly overrated. Not a good finisher. Probably the bottom of the list of strikers I'd have taken here. Woltemade is much better fit for us. For me it would have been: Mbuemo Sesko Ekitike (didn't know too much about him hence not higher) Kudus (over Elanga) Delap Joao Pedro Jorgen Stand Larsen
-
Aura - Ginola Swagger - Asprilla Flair - Ben Arfa Tenacity - Tiote First touch - Tonali Gillespie perhaps could be speed or crossing
-
Who is the best crosser? Is it as simple as Solano? Can't think of too many better?
-
Would put Martins for shot power

Imagine this squad with Anderson and Minteh still in it. That one summer set back the club like three seasons and although it saved us the points deduction has probably cost us like £250m. It’s like trading your next two years first round draft picks. You sell the future, and worse still there was no benefit in the present. Those two plus Miley Hall and Livramento were all top tier prospects. Would have saved 100m on Elanga and perhaps Ramsey this season too for a better result, plus the fact both players could be worth £75m each. Even Joelinton may have been sold by now for £50m or so as Anderson was a ready made replacement. Plus the pointless 20m spent on Vlad. Everyone else let go of Leo Sahar and Harrison Ashby type of prospects for 9m. We let Crown Jewels go cheap. Not to mention it has also cost us Amanda and Ghoudossi too. The nuclear fall out has been extremely costly we’ve probably been the worst hit from PSR rules. Even Everton and Forest who lost points ultimately survived relegation and got stronger the following season. Ironically the season we would have lost points we didn’t get into Europe anyway.

Agreed - this is how it should be is what I meant

It's clear we have young first choice then veteran back up. First choice - all early to mid 20's Livramento, Thiaw, Botman, Hall Second choice - all 33 or above Trippier, Schar, Burn, (Targett) The issue is actually letting Targett or not having a back up LB. We don't have any youngsters coming through that are trusted enough either. Either Burn is the back up LB, meaning that Lascelles is the backup CB, or Burn only covers CB, and we need to get someone for LB in Jan (or recall Targett even). He would have been better than having Burn there tbh.
-
I would have said Mbuemo but Walker-Peters is alright whatever floats your boat
-
The problem was he was the poster boy for PIF, this NUFC side and they were reluctant to let him go on that basis - imagine Man C letting Aguero go before they had a chance to win the PL. The optics are terrible for the others who signed up for the grand vision etc. But the progress has slowed down majorly. I'm not sure if even 2030 is realistic anymore - we seem way too behind. In hindsight, having a 250m spend without a DOF was the wrong move. I can imagine there may be 2-3 big buys but there would also be depth added with foreign gems - like Man C and Khusanov, 25-30m's instead of every man and his dog costing us 40-50m plus. Elanga and Wissa are £110m between them.
-
Be careful what you wish for
-
This was the wrong choice - it meant we had Heskey starting up front for England, and the likes of Darius Vassell Shearer and Owen up front and we win WC 2002
-
I don’t mind not getting Sesko Pedro Ekitike etc if there was one of the players we went in for that we could have gotten it would have been Mbeumo - was exactly what we needed, even more so since Isak left.
-
Would Messi get in ahead of Murphy is the real question.
-
In terms of transfers: World class goalkeeper who can use his feet - Mike Maignan for short term or a Diogo Costa longer term Two full backs, a replacement for Trippier, back up for Hall. Not sure who.? A replacement CM for Willock - ideally a pure DM. Baleba, or an Anderson or Wharton. A world class winger - a Rafael Leao or Kenan Yildiz Depending on how Wissa does, and if Woltemades position in the team will be at 10, would still love a world class striker that guarantees goals like Osimhen Obviously unrealistic but if Suds and Ross do their work well over the next few seasons these are the main gaps to fill.

Yes salaries is a big one. Would Isak have gone if we could go to 300k sooner? Even the likes of Bruno and Tonali could probably command that elsewhere eventually. So competing starts there
