I think we’re too bloody compliant. Man U were not within the PSR rules and were able to use some excuse. Chelsea have ignored the rules with impunity. Forest who have much less commercial income than us are always spending. No one is as scared as us which I don’t get. (Surely having Saudi owners means you can always buy someone off here and there)

If we hadn’t sold Anderson and Minteh and the rest of the window was exactly as it has been, I’d still have said it’s poor but would have had hope that Minteh is a potential new signing in a problem position, and Anderson is a utility player so can cover LW, RW, CM etc where required. without those two it’s genuinely been a disaster Kelly is literally the only new signing we can use. Osula might be too raw and get the Hall treatment most of the season.

In hindsight, I would have been ok with Gordon leaving as there are tons of LW's out there we could have gotten, also Barnes is here. Bruno and Isak are unique and way more irreplaceable to us.

Don't know why more people don't say it like it is - Yank owners are way, way worse than Arab owners. The Arabs are ambitious, and invest heavily in the area etc. Most clubs with Arab owners have ended up being better than what was there before. PSG, Man City, us etc. The Americans are hyper capitalist, everything is for money only. Look at Man U, the initial version - who their fans hate. Liverpool fans also hated their US owners. Chelsea too. Which of those are better than what was there before? But they don't seem to get the bad press - to sort of quote Ali G - is it coz they iz white? (Don't get me started on US human rights - probably worse than Saudi, Chinese and Russians at this point).

What frustrates me is the over-preciseness. We don't have to do a Brighton where we're buying lots of randoms with the hope a few turn out ok. If raising the floor and raising the ceiling are the two approaches - this summer we've done neither. If Guehi was our long term RCB, that's a raising ceiling signing, ditto Tonali last year. I'd rather get 3 or 4 raising the floor signings - e.g a Matias Soule would have been a decent risk. A Milenkovic, a Hujisen. Below 25m, there is still value to be had if you look for it and don't think you're going to solve all your issues in one window. What we needed was an alternative profile to Almiron and Murphy - either pace (which Minteh would have provided) or delivery (esp if Trippier plays less).

Tbh the Ashworth saga has obviously affected us way more than Man U. We thought he’s not in place for them so they’ll not have their top targets this summer and 2025 is the earliest he’ll have an impact. Meanwhile we can still benefit from the plans he will have put in place. it’s been the opposite situation
