  1. Totally agree Gordon and Bowen should have had way more minutes, genuine game changers Take Foden off, he's been ineffectual all tournament Understand Mainoo going off because he's young but bring Bellingham back next to Rice when you do. Put Foden centre if need be.
  2. Would love to sign him on loan for this season, can't see Madrid starting him
  3. I’d be happy with Chiesa and Sara think that’s a more than decent upgrade for the RW
  4. Isn't Chiesa like a Wilson (who's been successful for us too) - Wilson at Bournemouth was also very injury prone Granted, we bought Wilson in the Bruce era so that's kind of who we bought at that time But he's still been a success even in the new era As the main RW signing, perhaps not, but in conjunction with one more - definitely worth the risk imo
  5. 21m is a no brainer, we could literally get the same amount for Almiron. Chiesa and Murphy is better than Almiron and Murphy. Better for Tonali too. This one should be done - and even got spare cash left for a young hybrid RW/CF prospect of the Joao Pedro ilk.
  6. It’s interesting Nickson has been tracking Williams and Wirtz for 2-3 years, both are unattainable now but he really does have a good eye. The names that are under the radar eg Ederson etc have also been good. Graham Carr was great for the budgets we had back then but Nickson’s track record so far has been pretty good. Wouldn’t mind a left field option either.
  7. Should be all over that for Chiesa we tend to buy distressed lower priced assets and rebuild them up again at that price we could probably buy another RW too, so we’ll have an Almiron and a Minteh replacement
  8. Even though Froggy would never admit it, as it'll be a sign of how far Man U have fallen, but over the next season or two, Newcastle and Man U ARE actual rivals. More now than they've ever been - and not just a 'one-sided' rivalry as they like to claim. Neck and neck in the table for the past two seasons, the bad blood over Ashworth, competing for a similar type of player and even backroom staff. Man U are nowhere near Liverpool or Man City so Newcastle is your derby for the next season or two Froggy - enjoy
  9. Wouldn't mind a purple RW PLUS Soule - almost the Minteh and backup replacement in one go. Murphy is more the dogsbody journeyman who fills in now and then, the new Ritchie perhaps but higher calibre. Even MGW plus Soule, gives us different options. MGW is very good and has those Bruno level high standards too
  10. For what it's worth, if he hadn't been placed on gardening leave in Feb and was in role, I doubt we would have gotten as manic a situation as this weekend. He is a bit more far removed from the squad, and so can be a bit colder and more ruthless. He wasn't budging with Joelinton's contract, he could have gotten rid of him. Same with others. With Wilson, or Trippier etc he may have accepted less to get rid, and save on the wages too. The point is, it would have been in his remit, and his neck on the line to ensure we meet PSR. Part of this crisis is having your main guy in charge of this metric leave and not be replaced adequately or in time.
  11. Would definitely be happy to get rid of Longstaff, even if it's only 15m of pure profit
  12. One good thing is that we have a good relationship with Forest, perhaps the Charnley connection. Wood, Shelvey etc. They've got decent players who have youth on their side. Better than having a friendly connection with an Everton. I'd be tempted to discuss Murillo and get the RCB issue sorted (even tho he plays LCB) instead. Get Murillo and Elanga for Minteh and Anderson plus cash. The other alternative is Awoniyi as the Isak back up - he's a good DCL alternative Or of course MGW but he's their crown jewel so wouldn't even mind swapping Willock
  13. If we get Elanga then we have no need for Murphy, both nippy players that stay on the byline and cross it Elanga has a bit more about him and has youth too Ideally get rid of Almiron too so it's a purple RW (e.g Chiesa) and Elanga instead of Minteh, Murphy and Almiron That's a net upgrade
  14. One thing successful Newcastle sides have mostly had is an unpredictable player with tons of flair. Not always the most consistent but always entertaining who can change a game with one moment of magic. Last season was the first in a long time we didn’t have that kind of player and there were times even though we scored tons that we could have used a bit of magic, especially in that Nov to Mar period. Asprilla, Ginola, Viana, Lua Lua, Martins, Saint Maximin, Ben Arfa. Thauvin and Cabella were also supposed to be those kind of players. Minteh I thought would have been good for that role. We do have Bruno and Isak who are less of a maverick and more world class players who can be consistent with it. But even then having that ability to change a game with speed, skill and unpredictability from the bench would have been useful
  15. Minteh has been compared to Sadio Mane - both on the eye test and on the data. Bona fide wonderkid. That means he could develop into a beast of a striker, who finishes. All that while operating from our weakest position, RW. A Salah, a Palmer, a Saka. These are obviously the best in the PL and this is all hopeful hype. I would prefer we let either or any of the following leave for PSR (providing replacements are sourced before the season starts): Longstaff Anderson Wilson Targett Trippier Dubravka Lascelles Krafth Almiron Murphy Burn Willock Lewis Hayden Pope Kuol Ashby The only untouchables for me: Bruno, Isak, Botman, Gordon, Barnes, Tonali, Miley, Kelly, Hall, Livramento, Schar
  16. Kudus is actually considering his future at WH, so can see that being more likely than Bowen
  17. If we sold Kuol to them for DCL I could understand even for PSR but Minteh is showing he has something so it would be strange not to even check him out in preseason
  18. Gardening leave wouldn't even be an issue if he paid the bill Don't blame something completely normal in the exec business world because you're tight

    Fixtures 2024/25

I said it before... this is the new 1995/96! 13 games into that season, we had won 11, drawn 1, lost 1. From Wikipedia: An explosive start to the season saw Newcastle storm to the top of the Premier League table. Newcastle led the league for virtually all of the season from August until mid-March... Having said that... I would love it if we beat them (this time), love it
  20. Remember this is summer 1995/96. So a Ginola level player is coming in. Olise could be that man, French and all that. would be happy with Nico Williams or Chiesa also on that side. one of those 3, jobs a good un
  21. Lol, instead of Rui Costa?! Typical Never heard of Maric before or after NUFC We had so many random nationalities and players around the millenium, cheap and cheerful buys
  22. It was on Channel 5 which was new at the time!
