I can see where they are coming from but am not sure it will work. It really makes my piss boil when a managers best financial reward will come from failure. Sign a 5 year contract. Get a club relegated. Get sacked and get paid 5-10 million quid for the privilege. Six month contract plus rewards for success on paper makes a lot more sense. Problem is the job market for managers is working on different terms. All this will mean is it is harder to attract the higher end of managers that are available to us. If football as a whole started working on these terms and the playing field leveled then why not.

Credit to Fulham in the first half. At least they came to play some football and edged the half. Second half we looked good for a while but they stopped us playing our game for long periods. I think the players lost their bottle to play the ball through the middle (due to Fulham pressure) and resorted to awful long balls. Cheik could easily have seen red for a second yellow. They hit the bar. But overall I think if either team deserved the win it was us. I think if the ball had hit Carrols head rather than Lovenkrands a couple times we would have.

Teams have just been deliberately losing so they can get the payment.

His finishing has been excellent this season. 18 goals from midfield is superb. That's double what Lee 'the jigsaw' Clark got in our last promotion season. Fair enough he is no world beater but we would not have as many points right now if it wasn't for his goals.

No, as gray says the points penalty isn't given to ensure a team gets relegated, it has nothing to do with their league position or where they finish. I have read the same thing. It is to avoid clubs timing their administration (and points deduction) if they know they are down already. Not sure that it is true but I have definitely read articles stating this.
