And the point of that would be? other than allowing the makems screaming "where were you when you were s***" at us should we get promoted.. Leave the protests to the b****** tree huggers.. I've renewed my season ticket regardless of what the club does.. and will continue to support the squad regardless. So are you saying nobody should bother going to matches and supporting the team? Supporters support through thick and thin. That's all. Sorry for late reply, NO I am not saying that supporters should stay away at all, but unfortunately Ashley knows this too and all it means is he has more time to strip the club of assets and get all his money back. He may be selling the club for 100 Million, but what about the money from all the outgoing transfers (Milner, N'zogbia, Duff, etc) he has banked that, he has got the parachute payment from the Prem, he is getting revenue from the fans, etc. Even if he sells for 100, I doubt he will actually be that much down on his original investment, remember when he came we apparently didn't owe anyone a penny, now we have a 40 Million overdraft, I am sure that 40 Mill went in his pocket as well. Your post just highlighted how little you actually know about the situation. There's not one thing in this post that is correct. Not saying I know anything about the situation, I just have an opinion like everyone else, I know nobody at the club or anybody that has anything to do with it, not claiming the figures are exact but where am I wrong? Let me highlight what's wrong.

Absolutely loving this Liverpool/Aston Villa match for two reasons: 1) I fucking hate Liverpool more than any other team and 2) It's in HD here in the States.
-
Now he just bores me to tears every weekend on TV as a pundit here in the States.
-
No we don't. No announcement on Monday I'm afraid (and I hope wrong!).
-
Behind Barton he's easily our best passer of the ball.
-
I think people are getting ahead of themselves here a bit. It's only "expected" for the club to make a statement, not confirmed. Don't hold your breath.
-
If there is actually a statement tomorrow (which I am not totally convinced in happening anyway) I am definitely going for the taking us off the market option. It's a damn shame. I hope to be proved wrong.

Title rivals? How about just rivals for now?
-
It's never middle of the road with us is it? It's either OMG WE'RE GOING TO WIN THE LEAGUE :frantic: or OMG WE'RE GETTING RELEGATED :frantic:
-
After Nani pointed and told him where to go.
-
Holy shit, Guthrie could blind somebody with those fucking legs. Get some sun boy!
-
As far as I understand yeah. Don't all players have that right? Just because two clubs agree fees doesn't mean the player actually has to move.
-
Ashley really has nothing to do with the sale to be honest. Sure, Ashley may want some money but Taylor gets the ultimate say in the matter. He can demand ridiculous wages or just downright turn them down.
-
Awesome. lol, fyp, smarty-pants.

My fantasy team strikers.

Open tryouts at SJP next week?

You don't seriously expect folks on here to say anything bad about Wor Al, do you? Or more to the point, for anyone (other than indi, perhaps) to be bold enough to suggest that maybe Ashley could see Shearer was clueless how to sort things out? Not at all, but I thought it was worth floating the idea to get people thinking and possibly debating. I just have a funny feeling in the meeting that Shearer went in with some ideas, Ashley said "here's what I've been told by my financial people" and Shearer said "well here are my ideas, take it or leave it" and it kind of went downhill from there. If Shearer's "demands" were anywhere near what Ashley's restraints were I think Shearer would be our boss right now, simple as. I don't buy all of that not being able to appoint a manager before the club was sold - because Ashley knew how long it was going to take to sell the club and we could be a much more ideal club to be taken over right now if we had a proper manager in place with at least some proper direction on the pitch.
-
Simpson - Campbell - Colo - Enrique then? Would be massive if he turned Everton down himself though. Although I don't even know if he's enough of a "Geordie" to do that.
-
Has anyone ever floated the idea that maybe Shearer himself didn't fancy the rebuilding here he'd have to do? I know this is blasphemy but I am just brain-storming out-loud here. Maybe the ideas he went to Ashley with were unrealistic for a Championship level. I don't have the exact quote but I remember in an interview Shearer did he said the ideas he brought to Ashley were if we were in the Prem or not. Maybe Shearer didn't want to have to lose all of these people that we almost have to lose to balance the wage bill. Maybe he didn't want to have to do it with a bunch of loanees and youngsters and that's why him and Ashley never came to an agreement? Rip away!
-
A non-story really. Of course he'll want the job if it comes mid-sept and we're top of the table playing his kind of football. I don't think he generally fancies having the job full-time but would take it if offered and we were in a reasonable position playing reasonably good football. I applaud him for staying around this long - he gets a lot of unnecessary schtick for just doing a job he's not even asked to be doing. They could've easily brought in Calderwood instead of Hughton.
-
Because it didn't really have much to do with our actual defence - it was the shit infront of them that ultimately caused the goals. Everyone in our preferred defenders last season (Beye, Taylor, Colo, Bassong, Enrique) are far too good for this club in its current state and that is why they are attracting bids from Prem clubs - they are Prem-level players.
-
Assuming everyone's fit, that's the team I expect to see the majority of the season.
