I noticed Arab News stopped their fanfare over us as soon as it was apparent that we’re currently the PL whipping boys. Reflects poorly on PIF right now. If this is indeed a PR/ sportswashing exercise (rather than an roi-driven investment opportunity) then I imagine a lot of the bigger spending that we’re all hoping for will come once we’re seen as a more glamorous project.

Excuse the Bruceism but It really is about point accumulation at this point. We need to win just under half of our games from now on. I just don’t see it. I also don’t see us spending that much in January to fix enough of our glaring issues, so maybe I’m just a pessimist.

Worried we’re supposedly serious about buying Cook. 3-4 years ago I would have said he was very underrated, past his best now I’d imagine (seeing as he doesn’t seem to get into the Bournemouth team). While the loyalty is admirable in some respects, I think Howe’s problem with Bournemouth was that he wasn’t ruthless enough with upgrading his playing staff. Despite decent spending, they never really pushed on while they were in the Premier League.

Seems like bad news for us; which I suppose was the point. You can see why the dirty 6 want it but really can’t understand what the other teams are getting out of this. It’s basically signing away your hope of one day not being a complete non-entity.
