  1. I think so. Its my belief that if your working with young players you build them to be comfortable in possession of the ball, don't worry about positions as they will naturally find their position when the time is right. The ability to get out of the 1v1 is massively over looked within the UK (I have worked abroad for the past 5 years). I have been back in the UK for the first time in 3 years and we haven't changed. I've took in Academy sessions as well as watching my friends sons train at grassroots. Everything is focused towards "how can the team win"..... rather than how I can make the individual better. Generally after they have finished pubity as then the majority of their physical development has finished thus allowing you to not only access their technical and tactical development at that time but also where their physical attribute will allow them to make the most of their technical and tactical attributes. Yeah, Frank De Boer said that a player's technical development happens between 10-14 years. After that they struggle to make any real significant improvement. Spot on. 14-15 years onwards becomes more about the decision than the technical. Although I believe 10-15mins of each session at that age should continue with a certain amount of technical repetitions thus allowing the players muscle memory to stay strong and refine their current technical levels.

  3. The players that you have will determine what philosophy you take. But in my opinion that should only apply to adults when results are important. Certainly a lot more important than when the players are between the ages of 7-15 years. I coach everyday for a living, work with players 7 years to 13 years at various development centre's that are associated with my place of work. My philosophy you have to do your best to build the individual player before the team. Individual players make a better team. For example break your season down into 8-10 week segments and within those segments cover topics that an individual will need if they were to become a complete player. With the younger element of players for 4 of those 8 weeks we will focus on 1v1's, teaching them specific techniques that they can use in different 1v1 scenario's. The scenario's can be varied by adjusting your conditions to make sure the defender is defending a certain way. As players become older your curriculum then should become more group based, with a focus on small group possession and passing combinations as well as the role of the 2nd and 3rd attackers. Within this whether your working with 7year olds or 14 year olds you can have a philosophy that focuses on the team. For example my teams play a short passing style simply because this allows the players to have the most touches on the ball which promotes technical development. My players are encouraged to constantly move the ball away from pressure but as the ball is traveling to them their first look and thought is Can I Play this Ball Forward? (1st principle of Attack - Penetration). This then allows them to continue technical development thus in turn allowing them to learn the game tactically. To allow this full backs and wide midfielder are encouraged to move wide to open up the field as soon as we win possession with both centre forwards going long. This opens up the middle of the field putting more emphasis on the centre midfielders to check in and take responsibility of the ball. This then over time puts the centre halfs in an environment which forces them to play out of the back rather than going direct into the channels (which is the English style at grassroots level). If I had an job where I was working with an adult team, my philosophy would be based around how I could win games. With young players I feel the mindset should be how I can make the individual better starting with your weakest member of your group. At every level the game is a technical based and brain centered game (players need to be switched on all of the time), you need to make your players individually technically better which will give them the confidence to make consistently better decisions thus making them want to be switched on the majority of the time. The best players in your team are the ones switched on, I believe this is because they are confident and probably the best technicians in your group. The above is just my opinion and like with anything opinions don't make it the right way so don't shoot me down if you don't agree.
  4. That's clearly his phone down his sock due to the costume having no pockets.
  5. Not worried if they get him. Its a win win for us..... He does well - A much bigger club will come in for him, most notably Man U, when Sir Alex retires. He struggles - They are back to square one.
  6. He's fucking garbage man.... no first touch, no ability when the ball is under control as he looks like he is going to fall over his own feet everytime he takes a bastard step..... long live Shola is this pile of shit is our saviour! fuck me
  7. Hahaha lets face it there is nothing we can do as fans that will change it. So we have two choices..... stop supporting the team or continue to back the team through this dark period. Unless you have the money to buy the fat man out then unfortunately we have to accept the situation..... that is a fact.
  8. Whether we sign a striker or not in time for this game we'll still have a competitive enough team to give them a game. Whether we sign a LB or not in time for this game we'll still have a competitive enough team to give them a game. Every time someone reads this forum they must go away wanting to hang themselves with the negativity that is constantly spouted. If its not one thing its another..... The stark reality is that we are run by people who don't give a fuck about NUFC, its not as if we didn't know this judging from their past fuck ups, so it shouldn't surprise anyone that we haven't signed the two players that we need. Instead of constantly looking at the glass half empty lets accept the situation that this club is in and put all our efforts into supporting the team that steps out onto the field rather than putting all our efforts into complaining about players who aren't even part of this great club. The constant doom and gloom doesn't help anyone. We are stuck with these muppets for a long time yet, no complaints, no protests will shift them. But what will help the group of players is showing the team (not Pardew or Ashley) how much we are behind them and showing the country that we really are the best fans in the world.
  9. Right wing for him like we should played Tayls---Willi----Colo---Simo Have a fullback at fullback But I thought we kept a clean sheet yesterday with the back four that started? Raylor done OK, nothing special but also nothing wrong with his performance either.

    Fantastic post......
  11. Unfortunately we aren't playing FM! This is real life.....
  12. Tottenham have been flying of late but they are due a bad game! Hopefully its this one!
  13. Very mature comment! Jesus wept!
  14. As a team we want to be where Spurs are (Champions League).... To get there its no good buying there rejects. We have bought players deemed not good enough by others, living on past glories with suspect attitudes and it got us know where. As much as I hate Ashley et al, the philosophy of identifying young talent and developing is the way forward if we are to become a european club again. Also we have such a good team spirit bringing anyone in who could upset that is a no go in my opinion.
  15. No difference between League 2 and Conference now
  16. If he chooses Brum over us then good luck to him.
  17. The hype surrounding Ranger is ridiculous. Let him develop naturally..... but for him to do this and fulfill his potential, he needs to sort his alleged attitude problems out.
  18. If we got 30m for him, I think they would sell. 22m plus 2 players I think they would sell.
  19. Holy Shit! How old are you ? 9 years old.....
  20. I thought Ryan Taylor was pretty "Wow". Not the good kind unfortunately. At the time, especially considering his performances against us, getting the money for Zog and RTaylor seemed good business. Obviously he is very limited but for the outlay he hasn't been as bad as people make out.
  21. Possibly but winning is all that matters. True, but i'm not getting involved in blowing Pardew for great tactics. Two poor sides for me. I don't think your being negative enough........
  22. I haven't read the latest comments on this particular thread and I don't normally post on here (just read and use it as an up to date source of NUFC rumours and news - GREAT STUFF LADS and LASSES so keep it up). I think today that performance and team selection would have came under Hughton. I think the first half was even, both teams never looked like threatening each other with the only difference being their wide men and that extra bit of creativity in the centre of the park (Modric). I thought we were let down massively by both Routledge and Jonas today. At times they were fed the balls in positions which they could have delivered better quality in the first half and failed miserably time and time again. Pardew cannot be blamed for this has this has been the case all season. After all these are not Pardew's players. And before you all shoot me down saying I am a WUM etc etc I must state that I didn't want Pardew in this job as much as the next person but when Hughton was appointed last term I didn't want him either but by giving him the benefit of the doubt I grew to love him. Putting pressure on our manager early on may force him to make rash decisions in January thus potentially wasting any money we have. Now looking forward I think buying two quality wingers and a player of real creativity for the centre of midfield are needed. Forget about a centre forward. We could have Alan Shearer in his prime with AC up there but without the sufficient quality out wide to open up the field and cause concern for opposition defenses as soon as we regain possession then we are not going to create anything for our front men to finish. With those two type of players and someone to create and link things together we would be a strong strong team. Players who we should buy, I haven't got a clue..... thats up to Alan Pardew.
