  1. I actually spent a while laying in bed thinking about the club. First up, about the uproar of the 19 other clubs demanding a meeting: let them have it. However, all 20 clubs need to be invited. After Super league debacle there should be no meetings without all 20 clubs being invited. It's obvious that some clubs are pissed because there is a new player in the Big X club. Other clubs may not be outraged about Newcastle and its Saudi ownership per se, but more curious about how this got pushed through so suddenly. Man City will probably look on in amusement. The rags are still rags and will beat on any drum that will get them clicks. Everyone is well aware of Saudi Arabia's human rights failings. But let us not forget that a large segment of the media will use faux outrage for their own purposes. Mehrdad and Amanda have the right idea. Give to local charity, begin to put local people to work at the club, and develop goodwill within the greater area. A rising tide raises all boats and as the club begins to rebuild its stature so will the surrounding community. The only way to silence this backlash will be to one day at a time build a club that gives back and is shown to be a valuable part of the community. oh yeah, and sack Bruce!
  2. The proof will be in the pudding. If the club is run responsibly. If the club benefits the the community. If women's football and girls youth football are given a proper go then all will be well. Believe me, with this takeover still in the wings I waited to see what came out of the release of 9/11 information. Because if it was shown that the Saudi's were complicit in those attacks I wouldn't be celebrating this takeover. Yes, there are civil rights issues. However, F1 and a host of other ventures tells me that this purchase is just part of the process. I'm ok with that.
  3. Adama is a beast but more of a rugby player, IMO Creative mid who's a sniper on frees. Backup to push Wilson Centerback
  4. Yeah, I suspect Brewce will be binned before Sunday, Jones as interim while they take a few weeks to pick the right person. Maybe by end of Nov. we'll have DoF and staff in place, gearing up for some key, but modest, purchases in January.
  5. let him get his 1,000th game somewhere else. If he got it Sunday he wouldn't enjoy it with all the shite coming down on him.
  6. He's shown he can help build a franchise, can coach players up and by all accounts is an honorable man. We can do a lot worse than Eddie Howe.
  7. My god, think of the enormity of change that has to come. New Phone system New computers/network/software (bye bye windows 7!) Build Commercial Development team Build out Marketing team Build out Accounting/administrative team Stadium repairs (upgrades later) DOF, scouting network Quick upgrade to all training facilities and staff before complete overhaul of facilities including administrative facilities I'm sure there is more that I'm missing. I can only imagine how behind we are with a wide array of technology, training, etc.
  8. Love the man for what he did here. Always will.
  9. Those poor people must feel like freed hostages.
  10. Forget his awful managing. He should be fired for the way he talked over his detractors in the press. For the way he said what ever was convenient to say at any given moment. For the way he talked down to the fans and for the way he's already quit on the job.
  11. Jonas. When I think of Ashley, that's the first thing I think of. The abjectly shitty way he treated an employee with CANCER.
  12. BOREHOLES. More and bigger boreholes. Everything else would be gravy.
  13. Im at 5. The minute Brewce is binned it goes to 1
  14. No throwing up into fire pits, now.
  15. I'm happy for myself but even more so for those of you who can go to games. Someday I hope to get over there and walk to a game with all of you.
  16. Someone stable and experienced. Someone who wants to be a part of a project but can attract quality players. Poch for me.
  17. Striker to push Wilson Center back Right back
  18. In the end it will all end in a compromise. Ashley sees that the PL could dig in and drag arbitration out as well as kick the can on the CAT case. No sale until those are resolved. PL sees that Ashley's CAT case has merit and will lay open the process that will not shine the best light on the PL. Qatar has probably said all along that if the piracy issue gets resolved, they'll step aside. PIF, Stavely, etal ask what it will take to get this all to go away and voila. It's business.
  19. Brewce will be shot before the ink dries on the purchase agreement.
  20. Nice to see that stat on SL considering he hasn't started every game.
