  1. I think this is a significant step forward. Piracy halted, SA open to Bein broadcasting and for the first we've heard a 1B arb case settled. Yeah, the way is being opened. This could also be a way for the PL to relent. "One of our major broadcast partners have settled with KSA. This was a major issue in our decision to not approve the sale."
  2. To follow up, I think the NUST Board should reach out to Heron and discuss him returning, if he'd be willing.
  3. The Newcastle United Supporters Trust (NUST) seeks to benefit our football club and its supporters by channelling the passion of its loyal supporters into a forward-thinking non-profit organisation that is a legally constituted, democratic, not-for-profit Supporters Trust. The Trust will act responsibly as a guardian of the future of Newcastle United. If the Trust believes that the Club is being run incompetently and not in the interests of the supporters the Trust will not be afraid to criticise. The Trust however, will not exist just to be critical; the Trust will also be about helping the club, tapping into the skills and expertise of its members and offering solutions. The Trust is ran by its members. Every member is eligible to stand for election and to vote for candidates for the NUST board which will be accountable to all NUST members. The Trust is legally registered and regulated by the Financial Conduct Authority. Any money raised or shares bought will belong to all members equally. The trust produces independently audited annual accounts and provides regular updates to members through meetings, newsletters, emails and website. I wish acknowledge that from my view from a distance the Trust has made an effort to improve the match day experience and done outstanding work in the community. However, I think the Trust would have been better served being more critical where the club has fallen short. If the club's record regarding communication has been poor (and it has), the Trust should have been more vocal, more often. That fact does not need to even be opinionated. Conversations with other trusts can be used to highlight the clubs woeful performance. If other clubs meet regularly with their Trusts put that info out there highlighting the Club's negligence. There are ways to criticize with out being overtly critical...state facts The Trust should consider hosting a public forum for its membership to express their thoughts and ideas. If there are protest groups that form the Trust can acknowledge those groups individually (within reason) without publicly endorsing those groups. The trust can't criticize a duplicitous owner but can publicly attack Holly? Who knows, she may have been a member at some point (like me). IMO, a board member should have reached out to her privately. There is no reason she could not be in the loop as opposed to being shunned. Her efforts can be acknowledged without her being a representative of the Trust, per se. You want people like that as a member. People who will do grass roots work. I don't know all the politics involved but when a duly elected board member steps down, it's a bad look.
  4. Both Watford and us are dysfunctional and I don't know why any manager with an ounce of self respect would take either job, atm. you could say Watford are striving to be better but what about establishing some continuity? What manager can come in and get the respect of his players when everyone knows that, on a whim, he'll be gone? Two different types of madness, IMO.
  5. I thought the CAT was supposed lay bare the PL's process and show that they did not apply their rules correctly, ie: undue influence from the "top six" and perhaps BEin/Qatar and how that negatively affected the sale of the club, resulting in finacial damages for MA.
  6. Getting Almiron was huge. Playing on the left he opened a lot of space for Perez and Rondon to move in centrally.
  7. Watching the club grind out a win/draw against a top 4 club and seeing Rafa smile his smile and put his glasses into his top pocket was entertaining. You knew the team played smart AND hard.
  8. Graeme Jones might give a bounce but nothing sustainable. I think we're screwed until there is a takeover.
  9. i wished they would go and play in their own private sandbox. Then they could find out exactly how self serving and short sighted it was. Would have loved to have seen them ask back into their respective leagues 5-6 years down the road.
  10. There won't be a new manager this season as long as Ashley owns the team. Maybe he'll look for a change if it is March and we've spent the bulk of the season in the zone. Who's going to come then? Howe would be great but that's just a pipe dream.
  11. I've already offered more than that. Not much more but yeah....
  12. Thought it might be interesting to read but he sounds like a crybaby in the article.
  13. Sadly we don't prioritize either
  14. Ah shit. As much as I liked to joke about him I don't think I can anymore. My dad died as a result of Alzheimer's and I watched him fade away over a 6 year period. It's horrible to watch and could explain some of JK's actions when he was with us.
  15. Not desperate at all. They probably don't even think about this deal much. If it happens, it happens. If it doesn't, it doesn't. Stavely is on it, out of sight, out of mind.
  16. Maybe if we had real training and recovery facilities instead of wheelie bins and splash pools we'd have a better record with soft tissue injuries.
  17. Another good reason for independent oversite of football. How is an owner allowed to get into debt of 200m? I read the Athletic article and I found it quite helpful. OK, so in a roundabout way he bought Pride Park for 81m so where did the rest of the money go? Or does some of that 200m include the tax owed and other current debt? Maybe the owner had good intentions but he's really made a tangled mess of things. Maybe an independent board could have brought things to a head sooner so players could have been shifted in the summer window. It looks like another club is going to be wound up.
  18. I think the fact that I have to struggle to find a consistent positive to his game says it all. He shows flashes, though.
  19. checked in with a 9 today. Our only hope is new ownership before the January window.
  20. What a shame that the players show more ambition than the manager and that fact is blatantly ignored.
