  1. I've got no problem with what the club are doing. I'd love another "marquee" signing but Ekitike's agent is a douche, Diaby wasn't ever gonna come and I'd bet the players the club was interested in are probably asking too much. I do not want to see the club to overpay for a stop gap and to be honest I'm more interested in selling off deadwood. See, I have total faith in Howe. If we bring in only one more name player I'd like it to be a deputy for Callum that can also play on the right. That's not saying I'd say no to Paqueta but we made our reaches in January; when we had to. I think the plan should be measured and incremental but be ready to strike when the gamechanger becomes available at a great price ala Bruno.
  2. huh. I've been here more than 14. Seems like just yesterday...
  3. I quite like Gordon. I don't think Everton will sell.
  4. Wood didn't set the world on fire for a number of reasons. Still the club stabilized it's form and impressively pushed forward without him bagging goals. I think, given the same run in a similar situation this year, that he could score 4 to 6 goals. Hopefully it doesn't come to that. I think the plan is to sign a young forward and play him and Wood in cup games and sub for Wilson to reduce his risk of injury. We had no one after Wilson last year, no one. Still a long way to go in this window.
  5. Sounds like Schar and Botman will complement each other nicely with Pope sweeping up the back.
  6. Joe, Bruno and Ericksen would be sexay
  7. If the agent comes back immediately with more acceptable fees I'd still string him along.
  8. Translated Then: "We think they'll end up relegated." Now: "They're rich, I want to get paid too!"
  9. Live in the US, my kid is grown but I'll be following this thread.
  10. Don't know why every player has to be painted with a broad brush, ie: Don't want players from X. It has to be much more nuanced than that. How old? What style/tactics did his team play? Will his skills transfer to how we play? On and on. That is why we have scouts and other evaluators. Identify a pool of players that fit our needs and winnow it down to players who become targets. If you see a player that has skills that you can use who cares where they came from?
  11. Or that month when Charnley forgot to load the paper in the fax machine...
  12. I see he has an estimated net worth of 33M
  13. When I have a big poop that won't come out on its own I head to RTG. After a belly laugh or two I am, indeed, ready to go.
  14. You know, the club could be taken over by multibillionaires and Fanny would still be grousing...
  15. Perhaps for fun, I'll put a bid in for the 51%. I wonder what Barry Moat is doing these day?
  16. I'm quite happy with the signing. Played every minute since he signed really helped the defense tighten up. I also think he became more effective offensively as the season progressed. Damn good value too.
  17. I took over and the club and it slid down the table. One window was never going to be enough to get back up. Getting back to fifth, let alone promoted was never in my remit..."
  18. Gormless and arrogant, who'd a thought?
  19. no on Carlos. Thought he was needed in Jan but there are younger, better options now.
  20. Sissoko would have been best played as a BtB mid. He had the athleticism and the drive to have been very successful. Breaking up play in front of the back line and making late runs into the box suited him to a tee. Pardew looked at his pace and tried to move him wide and he wasn't technical enough to do well there.
