Let's face it, ASM was Brewced, but in a different way. Whereas other players were (non)coached and played very passively I can see where Brewce threw a meaty arm around ASM's shoulder and told him he was the key to the offense. Constantly taking him aside, bigging him up, and telling him he was the star. Howe comes on board and ASM has to not only change his game but he lost the ego boosting of Brewce. Honestly, any player eval under Cabbagehead has to be tossed out. The difference between running a sports car on cheap gas and the good stuff.

I'm just happy going into a window where we are going to see well considered targets that will take the team forward. There won't be any silence until mid August and then a lot of false rumors followed by some cheap additions that don't fit. I can live with the endless drone of players we'll be connected to because I know most of it will be BS and the players we do bring in with be quality players and people.

I wouldn't want Lascelles moved either especially if we play 3 at the back. The club isn't going to get turned over and I still think Lascelles will have a big role to play in a back 3. Assume we sign Schar: Schar, Lascelles, Burn, Krafth (?) new, young left footer (?) and what if they don't sign Schar? What if Howe is ok with Krafth as cover for Trippier at RWB? They will need some continuity going forward.

I think, in addition to age and ability/potential, the recruitment team will be looking hard at personality and how they are going to fit into Howe's system. Personality is always tricksy but if they think someone won't fit, they won't make a play.
