Great close up shot of Carlton Morris screaming "YOU SHITHOUSE" at the lino for failing to give an obvious corner And of course he's booked for calling out refereeing incompetence.
-
He seems like a great guy and I'm genuinely buzzing to see him playing regularly and scoring for another side, he wouldn't have got the minutes here. Other than when we play Forest I hope he keeps firing them in and has another few years at the top level, he's proven he can score at a good rate in some pretty limited sides.
-
Whether there's any truth in him wanting to leave or not we obviously can't be certain, but right now 1) we aren't set up to get the best out of him, 2) there's no trusted striking cover to take him out of the firing line or share the goal burden, and 3) he's in poor form and doesn't look quite right himself. Fingers crossed 1) and 3) right themselves over the coming weeks and then between Osula's development, Wilson's occasional availability and January trading we can rectify 2) over the course of the season. You'd imagine if we don't qualify for Europe this year there'll be bids to test our resolve for many of our better players, but out of everyone we have Isak is the one I'd want to keep most. At his best he's easily a 1-in-2 PL striker who will contribute assists too and we should focus all of our efforts and recruitment on ensuring we get there as soon as we can, before we're forced to sell. I'm sure Howe is aware of all of this and will be trying to make it happen but time isn't on our side to make it work.

Big win for Gateshead on the road, hard fought single goal success at Sutton.

Palace European push going well, they'll be at Cardiff and Swansea next season unless they fetch Roy back before Christmas.

Morgan Gibbs-Beige

Well done, he's got two more years til he's 13

O'Neil speaks really well there & I agree with what he's saying. They do seem to find a logic or a justification for one decision that then is disregarded or not applied for the next one.

Carragher's on smack. Sanchez clearly gets a big touch on the ball and then his momentum carries him into the player, it can't be a penalty no matter what ridiculous Scouse wanker narrative he tries to justify it with.
-
Sanchez is fucking crap. No wonder Brighton were happy to get rid.

No goal from open play in four and a half matches and this is about the last sort of fixture we need on that kind of run. Can see Palmer being the difference in a tight game but hard to predict anything other than a defeat at the absolute graveyard that is Stamford sodding Bridge.
-
We lost 0-1 to Brighton under Rafa six years ago today and Murphy wasn't even summoned off the bench, I find that a bit mind-blowing like. Twelve transfer windows, two managers and a highly progressive takeover later and he's now starting for us in the same fixture.
-
Definitely think that in 5+ years we look back at this summer and file it in the same place as the Bowyer and Anita windows. An absolute waste of a chance to really kick on.

No I agree, I was saying I don't think Eddie was doing it for the reasons I listed but it definitely proved it anyway. Those are valid reasons for why he made the changes imo. Had to do something.
-
He was very good today and the absolute least of our worries.
-
I felt sorry for him again today. A rank combo of individual lack of quality and bad luck did for us and I wouldn't be surprised if he's privately very frustrated about the shit show summer already biting us in a big way.
-
Love him as a squad option but I don't get why he starts ahead of Barnes, unless there's a fitness issue we don't know about. Today was one of the days where he stood out like a sore thumb for his lack of consistent quality.
-
Yeah, was horrid. Don't think Eddie is the sort of manager to do it on purpose to try and ram home the lack of quality and depth to those upstairs whatsoever, but it absolutely did the trick anyway.
-
An absolute joke today from start to finish, gave them every single little decision. Absolute wanker.

What a frustrating afternoon that was. There's two really opposite ways you can take a result & game like that and I'm probably sat somewhere in between the two of them. Positive: Literally every team in world football will have a few games like that each season where they dominate the play and come on the end of a smash and grab from a team not that bothered about scoring. We had the three best chances in the game and didn't take them and if you play that game through ten times we probably win it 7 times and draw the other two. Brighton weren't remotely arsed about scoring and the goal was basically the only time they got into our half in the first 70 mins. We controlled the play, looked good in our build up and just nothing seems to drop for us at the moment. I can't really blame Eddie or the set up or the selection for any of today. Possibly a minor question mark on Murphy > Barnes if I'm really digging around. We'll play worse than that and win this season (in fact, we have already). Negative: Isak looks crap (whether unfit or not) and despite him fluffing a few good chances we weren't set up to get the best out of him yet again and he toiled all day long. Like the Everton game I put it squarely at the board that we've gambled on his form and fitness for another season and only trusted the striking buy of the summer with mere minutes at the end of the game at best. Another great chance fluffed/missed/bottled (delete as appropriate) by Gordon as well who could have won us points if he was on it the last few weeks. Looking at Sean and Miggy coming on when we were desperate for some guile and a lock-picker was fucking depressing and it felt like we could still be there now and have drawn a blank. Regardless: A word on the balding cunt wearing light blue. A disgrace from start to finish, giving a powderpuff diving Brighton team every single little decision. The Hall card was nothing short of outright incompetence as it wasn't even a foul, Rutter should have had one for diving (I was sat right in front of it). Seconds later, Rutter commits a worse foul up the other end, no card. What an utter fucking useless biased cunt & I hope he gets cock rot. So yeah. Tough one to take, and to analyse. Beat Chelsea next time out and that's quickly forgotten. Brighton looked crap and if they're like that all season they won't pull up many trees.

Brentford to score in first ten mins 9/1 tomorrow. Been at it constantly with the early goals and fast starts, and can see them doing it again at Old Trafford.

Enjoyed his podcast appearance, he's a nice lad and clearly appreciates the position he's in.

I feel like by now Howe must listen to the medical team's estimated return date for Wilson, add about 25% on top, state that in his presser when he's first asked about the injury just to be on the safe side, and he's still never anywhere near it I told myself this summer he'd play 0 minutes for us this season and will treat anything the poor ravaged fucker musters as a bonus. Doubtless he'll score when he does play too, on a slightly sentimental level it'd be nice if he could get one or two more and sign off his time here on a high.

I can't believe Lampard still gets touted as a serious option for most of the top jobs I know it's the thicker end of our best of British beef brained pundit stack but even then!
