Not sure Monk's stock has fallen low enough for him to be that desperate and take the mackem job.
Guarantee it'll be a rookie (Giggs, Sewper Kev, Bally) or a naff, uninspiring has-been (Lambert, Curbishley, Pards etc)
I'd love to see them go back for Brewce, would be fantastic.
Our team away to West Ham a week or so after KK quit:
Newcastle: Given, Edgar (Bassong 59), Taylor, Coloccini, N'Zogbia, Geremi, Cacapa (Gonzalez 81), Butt, Duff, Owen, Xisco. Subs Not Used: Harper, Ameobi, Tozer, Doninger, Donaldson.
Smith was by far the worst. Amdy Faye and Geremi are the only other two worse than Colback.
Butt was a victim of the club's flawed transfer policy, in that he was never good enough (bar his season under Roeder) but was wheeled out for 90 minutes every week despite not being fit for purpose. (See also: Williamson, Mike and Gouffran, Yoan)
I'd be very, very pleased with Andre Gray and Demairi Gray like. They'd be bloody good signings and anyone who'd be "underwhelmed" by them was probably underwhelmed by Ritchie and Gayle last summer.
I'm glad Plymouth went up this year; without getting all "football fwends" like the Mackems, they were great playing We Are The Champions and Blaydon Races etc when we beat them to win the league which sent them down.
