    Sunderland...

I want Man U to absolutely pulverise them.

    Danny Guthrie

I meant training that would help him to be effective in a game for more than about 60 minutes, because that's when he quite clearly used to wane and need subbing. Conditioning might not even be the right word for that, actually. The Taylor thing was just an example of how Pardew has shown he tailors (no pun intended) training programmes to alter deficiencies in each player's game.

Pardew spoke about changing Steven Taylor's training to make him less top-heavy, perhaps he's also been giving Guthrie additional conditioning sessions or something? Wouldn't surprise me.
  4. ITV's football coverage is shit but they were onto something with 'The Championship'. Matt Smith, one microphone and one camera, at one selected ground, merely filming the links in-between games and commercial breaks - the rest of it was sheer highlights and manager/player interviews.
  5. Where's that description of Ryder's typical day, where he goes to Greggs and then watches the soaps with 4 cans or whatever? So fucking funny.
  6. I don't think anyone I knew doubted the ability of Ba to score goals, it was more whether he'd stay fit or not.

I can see the logic in keeping him on for another year as backup, but I'd rather we allowed him to leave and gave a long-term contract to Sammy, as well as factoring in the apparent signing of Maiga.

    James Perch

Comparing it to the Torres tackle ffs Perch went in with one foot.
  10. Obertan's made two in fairness, that lovely cross for Colo's winner in the cup at Forest.

http://www.cultzeros.co.uk/proddetail.asp?prod=New113 Everyone should just get one of these with "PARDS" or "PARDY TIME" underneath as the custom text.

I genuinely think the fact he's a smooth talker and a pretty well-groomed fellow is an advantage. His visual image is of someone who is modern, stylish and professional. Wearing a suit on the touchline is also just generally so much better than the tracksuit look, that goes for anyone.

    Leon Best

Involved in all three goals, pleasing that even when he's not scoring that he's playing well. He was strong on the ball last night and tenacious off it, I was greatly impressed.

    James Perch

He made one terrific and important tackle that hardly anyone has mentioned, deserves as much credit for that as he does panning for the shit one.
  15. They're class, particularly the Halloween one.
  16. There wasn't any sound in the pub I was at because the pub quiz was on over the speaker system, but the Stoke fans at the other side of the bar from me kept making the "OOOOOF" noise whenever Delap threw the ball in, absolute mongs.
  17. He did very well tonight. This is what he's capable of, he now needs to do it more consistently.

Managers like Souness and Allardyce fail to realise that "psyching players up into battle mode" and "having a system that plays to your own strengths as opposed to your opponents" aren't mutually exclusive. We basically played like Stoke today when we didn't have the ball (closing down fast, plenty of tackles, high pressure, tight marking), but when we did have the ball we played like Newcastle, and we fucking caned the horrible bastards. The mistake managers often make is that they then think they have to play like Stoke with the ball too, and that's where they often slip up. Pardew thankfully didn't do that tonight, unlike last year's game here.
