Technically he's still very good but he's awfully unfit. The past two games he's been piss poor but when he's been called upon before that he still looked the part. The thing with Sol is you can never tell how he is mentally either. Some of the mistakes Campbell has made over the last two games have nothing to do with being unfit.

I see what you're saying but I think they kind of come hand-in-hand. I want the team to do well and regardless of how badly Hughton was treated, I'm not bothered who the manager is as long as they deliver.

After plenty of thought, I'm willing to give him a chance and get behind him. It's not ideal but has to be done in my opinion. That could change if he plays Alan Smith today though.

idle comment, but if we were to sell Ashley Young (three decent games, ten decent crosses in two years) and replace him with N'Zogbia, i wouldn't be too disappointed. I'd be thrilled with those deals, considering Redknapp would probably pay well over the odds for Young (over-rated) and you could pick up N'Zogbia for a decent-ish fee. £20m has been mentioned for Young has it not? Reckon you could pick up N'Zogbia for £10m, that would be cracking business.

FYP TBF, only Jose Enrique and Andy Carroll are irreplaceable, the rest of them can go at the right price. Obviously there are some you'd like to keep but for example rumours suggest Liverpool are after Jonas for £8m... ..who wouldn't take that? Now could be a good time for a fire-sale. Bold statement. I can think of four or five players I'd class as better than Barton in their respective positions.

I do think we'll sell him though. I could see it happening but not sure it will. Like you mentioned, his wages are an issue and if we did get offered around £5m, I'd want us to seriously consider it. That's a lot of money for somebody with his injury record (not forgetting his disciplinary record too) and he doesn't exactly have his best years ahead of him either. If, and that's a big if, it was to be reinvested on a replacement, I don't think I'd be that concerned about him leaving. I like Barton and would prefer him to stay but I have to admit that I'd be tempted to let him go if the price was right.
