^ All but rules him out of a move away then?

He hasnt been that solid for Wigan tbh just a little less error prone than he was here. He's still a distinctly average footballer that will make little to no improvement to their team. At a club like Wigan who aim only to survive each season his errors and defensive flaws arn't highlighted too much but when a club like Sunderland who are looking to progress into the top half, it wont be long before those errors and flaws seemingly become more obvious and are magnified. Maybe he's improved a little since his time here but he's still no more than average. Never understood those who continually defended him, yes he had his good games and flashes of brilliance but that was always outweighed by his mistakes. Wouldnt get into our team either tbh.

Ah goldfish bowl boy. One of the vastly over rated players of the modern game. 1 Good season under Robson which he lived off until his 7M departure. Freddy Shepherd must have laughed all the way to the bank. It seems Spurs fans are still asking the same questions Newcastle fans were back in 2004; what exactly does this lad do? Though having said that he's still currently better than any of our central midfielders.

Asked him on twitter about it and claiming he's been watched by a scout this weekend How great would it be if Hughton had actually sent scouts over after being asked about him.

The more I think about the gash in the Premier League the more hopeful I am. Sure, we're likely to be bummed off most of the top six or seven clubs but we only have to be above West Brom, Blackpool (both of whom are proven to be worse than we are) and one other from the likes of Wigan, Wolves and so on. That's only to ensure survival of course but it's hardly a long shot. Thats the one I worry about. More so because those teams seem to be spending money whilst we're still spending money from the Bassong deal. Last season, I'd fancy us to stay up at the expense of the 3 that went down as they were all considerably worse than the rest of the league, this season however it'll be much more tight.

This debate has kicked off again because its the same person claiming they'd rather see us go down playing good football than stay up playing rubbish. Obviously the football wouldnt be that good if we were relegated so not sure how that one would work.

Spot on. Newcastle to me represent the City, the region, the people and I want to see them inspire and command respect and to have ideals that are solid and lasting. I would rather play in the 4th division with pride intact and head held high than resort to s*** like narrowing the pitch or playing weakened teams in the Cup competions. We are Newcastle for f*** sake, not some other shitty club. Does anyone think Keegan or Robson would do it? We are not Stoke City or Wigan. For f*** sake, don't fall for the Mike Ashley bullshit. He has been unbelievably successful in lowering expectations by the look of it. The arrogance is astounding. Incase your forgetting we're in the same boat as them now man. Just because we're Newcastle doesnt mean we have to devine right to play good football, thats not what the game is all about. Amazing how you can expect to come straight up playing good football dismissing expectations of a relegation scrap. Thats not how being a promoted team works. At the end of the day Results are the be all and end all. Theres no arguing with that regardless of how nice or poor football we play.

Missed an absolute sitter against us earlier in the season, probably would have earned Sheff Wed a draw too.

I'd love to see weather those wanting attractive football over survival would still be saying the same if we were relegated. Somehow, I think not.

This type of comment annoys me. Hughtons showed a few occasions that he's ready to drop players if they're not performing. Our captain and obviously someone who Hughton liked was dropped during the course of the season. Smith, who started the season fairly well was dropped when he started underperforming and Routledge came in. Nolan was our top scorer throughout and didnt deserve to get dropped. If people are going to have misconceptions about Hughton because other past managers such i.e Kinnear & Allardyce were too stubborn for their own good then we might as well give up. also fuck the attractive football. Staying up > Playing attractive football. Yes, in an ideal world we'd all love to stay up playing entertaining football but how often does it happen? How often are their teams survive relegation scraps by playing attractive football? Norwich? WBA? Didnt fair them well. The reason we'll be in a relegation scrap is because we dont have the ability to play attractive football. I know it's a massive cliche but Footballs a results business and success is determined on results and results only, no matter how they are acquired. Stay up, keep building then once we get a bit of stability and safety; then comes the efforts towards playing nice football.

Aye I felt the same and now go with Crumpys bus whenever i go by coach (which admittedly is only 3 or 4 times a season)

Whats the loan rules for Clubs loaning off each other in the PL. How many Loanee's can we have, If we're limited i'd much prefer players that would regualrly feature in the first team rather than backup players.

If there is any truth in: Then the AA wont be coming to the North East. http://www.skysports.com/story/0,19528,11667_6253889,00.html I've not once heard Manu or Chelsea linked and I think its the papers putting a WC impresser with two big clubs together and making up stories. He'd get swallowed at Chelsea, get about 10 games a season in lesser ties while at Manu his rate would be slightly higher. He's much better off going to Sunderland tbh, or any medium sized club where he'd get 90% of games played to make a name for himself. Please tell me your not trying to say Sunderland are a bigger club than us?

Plenty of noises about Bramble to SAFC being made. Would be pretty hilarious that.

Because the man is a fucking prize cunt, thats why Dave. Good player mind.

Again? Wasnt he s**** here the first time round as well as being s**** at Everton? Nah in all honesty who's this Hottiger guy assuming its not the one we had here in 95? i think the pink was the give away. Cant say i know what the pink is tbh, hence the missing of the joke.

There's not a hope in hell we'll sign Hernandez anyway. Whoever wrote that about us was talking shite and picked a few random big English clubs to link him with. Clearly not realising we dont have the money we did a few year ago.
