So disappointing to be losing in the manner we are. Great strike by Ozil, but overall a massively shit goal to concede. We essentially just have to stay in the game for the next 25-30mins at 1-0 and then start to give it a real go. It’s no shock things are bad inside the ground at the minute, but it always surprises me how quick it goes from the sort of atmosphere we had against Spurs/Liverpool to this. People are very worn down, I suppose. Atmosphere in Block V of the Gallowgate was really good at times. Just a shame so many other people around the stadium (bar Strawberry Corner) don't join in. I think the drum actually enhances things- mainly with chants like Rafael's black/white army that can keep going, and the drum helps revive or intensify it. It's class. Saying that, still don't think enough people in that Block join in enough.

Thing is, even if we get a takeover and buy players the squad needs a good 3-4 players, possibly even 5. Who knows how much that is these days, but whatever the cost is someones gonna have to fucking pay it at this rate because I really do not think there are many, if any, squads worse than ours.

Sadly it was still pish and I'm at the front of the Gallowgate towards The Corner. I genuinely just think we're in a state of total limbo and there's very little faith in the players, which isn't the most useful combination at the moment. The takeover will make a world of difference, but relying on the crowd before that is fanciful at best. Need to grind out some results ugly IMO. Atmosphere was great up until the equaliser on Saturday. Even the Leicester manager said it was a difficult atmosphere to play in as have a few other opposition managers at SJP this season (Bilic, Klopp, Pochettino) The problem is, and you'll notice it tonight, that the style of play absolutely sucks the life out of the crowd and people become restless and even, dare I say it, bored by 20 minutes in. We never have a sustained amount of pressure on the opposition goal which along with a refereeing howler or a bad tackle are things that lift the crowd. People are edgy because we don't really look much of a threat going forward yet look vulnerable when the opposition do. This isnt a pop at the manager as hes doing what he can with a Championship quality squad but what we're watching now isn't condusive to a stirring atmosphere. Fans react to what they see on the pitch, and if it's pretty turgid stiff the atmosphere will reflect that. I completely see your point, but at the same time I just don't see it as a valid excuse to sit there in silence/moaning. I just think that people need to realise that their role as supporters is to sing and encourage, get behind the team. You can't go to a match (imo) with the mindset of 'well, I'll give socks if we're battering their goal'. And, for me, I think if we're defending a lead and the players are giving their all it can create that siege mentality and rally everyone around the team (but obviously most don't see it that way....probably because we're so unconvincing defending, in fairness).

Huge match tonight. It could be one of those memorable nights I feel. Feel happy with it until I remember we'll put out a woeful side and will at best get a draw before shamefully losing the replay. But I'm happy it's a home tie so now I can go to it...tickets will hopefully be not too expensive. Aarons will play, Darlow, Mitro (?), Gamez, Haidara? I'd like to put a strong team out and just try and have a go. There's no fun in our existence any more, the Forest tie in the LC confirmed that. Might as well just try and have a bloody go.

Would be tempted to play this like an away match, tactically. If we go 4-4-2 in possession I fear they will absolutely tear us apart on the break. Especially if they play the channels well like Bournemouth/Watford did. Trouble is, we don't have an effective AM who can play off the Striker, so if we do go with our strongest MF (which he won't) in a 3 of Hayden, Shelvey, Merino, they aren't the sort of players to play off the ST....they like getting it off people and playing forward passes in behind/switching the play, recycling the ball etc. Main thing against these is that we don't leave ourselves open on the counter, and learn to fucking defend crosses.

Very frustrating. Thought tactically Rafa got it right; the 5-4-1 helped us cope with switches of play and our Full Back's getting outnumbered. Came down to individual errors (again), Ritchie most culpable. Awful performance from him. Chelsea were just a class above us, but its just so frustrating how we conceded those goals. Fuck sake. I'd be happy to go 5-4-1 away from home from now on, but personnel changes like Hayden for Diame will be key.
