  1. Discontent and rumblings in the newspaper only started after Mort left though from memory?
  2. thank god that never turned out to be true eh Wasn't he sold a year later for 50 million to Real Madrid?
  3. Is the bulk of the Academy squad really good enough to go straight into the Championship? Newcastle finished 22 points behind Sunderland in the Academy League who qualified for the Academy League play offs. Spurs beat Sunderland at the SOL in the play off semi final, then lost to Arsenal at WHL in the final. As it's reckoned on their forums that only a couple of Arsenal youngsters may go on loan to Championship sides next season, I'd be surprised if more than 1 or 2 Newcastle youngsters got near the first team next season. There does seem to be a big gulf between the Newcastle and the Sunderland academy teams, let alone the Arsenal one. The way some people around here wank on about the youth players the dwarf bought in, you'd think Dennis Wise was beating Real Madrid and Man Utd to the next generations of Kaka's and Messi's.
  4. It's that sort of arrogant nonsense that got your club into the mess you're in now. Gotta agree with the Bacon. http://img.thesun.co.uk/multimedia/archive/00470/Gary_Megson_280x390_470256a.jpg Would turn any man bent.
  5. So you would rather instead of admitting he wasn't up to the task and walking away, he stuck around, failed to qualify for the 2002 World Cup and got a nice big cheque for his troubles like McClaren did? Him walking had nothing to do with the amount of funds, it had to do with the fact he wasn't allowed to spend the funds because Dennis Wise was spending it all on players he wanted and expecting Keegan to go along with it ( If Keegan had been handed the 16 million pounds wasted by the dwarf on Xisco and Collincini and been allowed to spend it on he wanted he would've been quite contented) - Bassong was his signing and is the only half decent one of the lot. Just like Bobby Robson then or just like any other manager who has been sacked or forced out and didn't get compensated.
  6. :mackems: Here's a question - Keegan left 3 games into the Premier League season. Sunderland, West Ham, Tottenham and Blackburn all replaced their managers either at the same time or at later points, yet they aren't relegated... but of course it's Keegans fault.
  7. You mean like Keegan did when he took over a team chilling at the bottom of the second division with a large chunk of the season gone? Just like Bobby, Shearer wouldn't have come within a 100 miles of Newcastle either as a player or manager if Keegan hadn't come along in 92. And here's a question - do you think Shearer takes the job if Wise doesn't get sent on his merry way? Do you think Shearer would've stuck around last September if he was in Keegans situation?
  8. And the 3 year extension to his expiring contract fits into the master plan how? Than again, this is a Mike Ashley masterplan were talking about...
  9. If by common knowledge you mean the one interview with Lameio where he was caught in a lie about Wise signing Bassong by the player himself?
  10. Two words: Mike Hooper gary kelly john burridge steve hardwick john karelse Mark Bosnich? He was f***ing dreadfull. Bosnich?! Are you on crack? Cocaine actually.
  11. Interesting comment. And completely accurate. Newcastle have had one legendary manager, and his name was Bobby Robson, not Kevin Keegan. One man was sacked and still turned up to see the club he loves despite being seriously ill. The other fucked off to play golf while we were sucked into a relegation battle. This thread should be titled 'I Love Bobby Robson.' No buts about it. Who's a special little boy... If we were dead last in the Championship with over half the season gone and no players to buy or sell do you think Robson even answers the phone to manage us?
  12. Saved Ashley a lot of money n all. Really? How much is he going to hand over to Keegan compared to what it would've cost to pay off Dennis Wise.
  13. Yeah, everyone found out that the "Wise System" isn't actually that bad and he's done a great job with the youth/reserve squads and little to nothing with the senior squad. About as close as he got to the senior squad was Bassong whom they probably thought was going to be in the reserves (until he turned out to be massive). Probably the same with Xisco who has spent more time around the reserves than the senior squad to be fair.
  14. Such as? Any which weren't made after Keegan left and they went into damage control mode to try and save their own behinds from getting fried.
  15. "I'm here to help Kevin, bringing young players through and also recommend certain players to him. He'll say yes and no, he has the final word, no-one else. Everything that happens will be run past him. I'm not going to bring players in behind his back - I'm not into that." Dennis Wise 01/02/2008 "We have started talking about who we will be bringing in and Kevin will have the final say" Chris Mort 07/05/2008 "It is a fact that Kevin Keegan, as manager, had specific duties in that he was responsible for the training, coaching, selection and motivation of the Team. It is a fact that Kevin Keegan was allowed to manage his specific duties without any interference from any Board member. It is a fact that Kevin Keegan agreed only to deal with the media in relation to Club matters relating to the Team and not to communicate with the media in relation to the acquisition or disposal of players." NUFC 06/09/2008 --- Wonder what Keegans going to do with his 8 million pounds...

You do know where Newcastle was when Keegan was first appointed manager right? Here's a tip - think bottom of the table... and don't think the Premiership/Old First Division either. When the two most successful managers in the premiership history both said they would've walked and told Ashley to lick a goat as well, and when a quick google search shows why Ashley is about to hand over 8 million to Keegan, it kind of paints a picture... :frantic:What a crock of shit, how the fuck did he leave us in our "hour of need" When he left the squad was playing reasonably decent football, and he still the only manager to have waked off old trafford with anything this season, you make it sound like he left us in the middle of a relegation battle or something. The reason we are in the shit now is because what has occured after he left. He didn't appoint JK, he didn't piss off the entire first team squad by putting every single member up for the sale, he didn't spend no money this transfer window. Managers leave teams all the time for whatever reason, it's not Keegans fault the fat man can't run a football club.
  17. Yeah, let's hire a guy who left for the same reason Keegan did.
  18. Pah, we don't need your optimism, with our internet streams, high horses and knee jerk reactions. Yeah, we should just sit there and chant Mike Ashleys name to ourselves as we slide down that tabe.
  19. f***ing hell, can't u understand that the investment is already unsustainable? Ur logic is like if we don't take a gamble then we couldn't chase back the money lost AND THAT'S EXACTLY WHY LEEDS AND FIORENTINA HAPPENED. NO WONDER U SUPPORT FRED BECAUSE U BOTH HAVE SOME PROBLEM INSIDE YOUR HEAD. How could you run a club like that? Worry about the drop of revenues? Higher revenues doesn't mean higher spending power FFS. HAVE PATIENCE TO RECOVER THE FINANCIAL POSITION AND THEN DO A VILLA. PATIENCE. Understand what it means? Yep, because Randy Lerner undermined his manager with a guy who was 6 months earlier was fading away in League 1 while speding no money on new players and trying to offload anyone with a pulse?
  20. Truely poetic. Lets not have a debate about the managers, lets just all get along and make sure no ones toes get trampled on. Has anyone else noticed how Keegan fans take similar stances on Keegan "criticisms" (if you can call it that) as NE5 does to Shepherd's... In fact its the same sort of argument, if you dislike Shepherd it means you love Ashley, if you rate SBR much higher than Keegan it means to think Keegan was a s*** manager. (What a hypocrite you are by the way, you can spend weeks and months talking absolute unsubtantiated s*** about the club [you claim to love] and people take it but when someone slights Keegans character based on facts we get this crap) This isnt me defending Ashley incidentally, this is purely an example of your hypocrisy, Translation : I got nothing, but i'm still going to not admit I was wrong and just spout off unrelated s***. Keegan both times has left us stronger than we were before he arrived, it's not his fault that dopes appoint other dopes to replace them and undo everything he did I got nothing on what? Keegan wasnt a great manager thats a fact. Theres nothing else to it mate, i appreciated what he did in the past for us but that doesnt mean im eternally grateful, nobodies immune from critisicm, especially someone who walks out the club like Keegan has. I could quite easily go into his overall managerial record and point out the avergagness of it, or i could easily go into how he knew little about our squad when he re-signed (he loves nufc remeber) or how he doesnt attend games in non formal roles (loves nufc remember) but ill not bother becasue no doubt it'll be ignored by the majority. The over reaction to some of the criticisms posted on the board highlight the problem that was casued by the blinkered fans when it all kicked off in the summer - none of you could see the big picture and we're paying for it. What's his overall managerial ability got to do with anything? No one's denying the fact SBR was a better manager overall and his resume shows that, but there is no way you can argue that SBR time was better than the job Keegan did in his first reign. And so what if Keegan doesn't attend our games anymore, that's just Keegan, football as a whole has always taken a backseat when he's out of the game to life - he doesn't go to anyones games, if he was still rocking up at Anfield or Hamburg or Fulham on a regular basis that point may actually mean something.

  22. Spot on! All we need is a good manager to pull this all together, its the thing im worried most about becasue i dont think Ashley et al have the brains to go for the best man they can get. That, and no one worth their salt would want to have no say in the transfers and be a minion for Dennis Wise.
  23. Mike Ashley did everything right until the moment Kevin Keegan walked in. Yeah, rather than backing his manager he undermined in, lied to him and installed a system which caused him walk - you know, that great Aresnal model which Wenger would've bailed on as well...
