  1. I'm not sure racism is acceptable to any ethnicity to be honest I kna man, but it is, if we're being honest. Taking the piss out of a Jew's nose whilst obviously not on is a bit different to calling someone the n word. In terms of public reaction it's huge.
  2. If they're charging him there must be evidence.
  3. Every ground in the country is either in an area like that, or alternatively in a post-industrial wasteland where there is absolutely fuck all. We're almost completely unique and very lucky to have a city centre stadium that backs onto Leazes Park, grade 1 listed Georgian terraces and is in walking distance to... well everything that the city has to offer. You'd struggle to find a better stadium/location combination anywhere in world football tbh. That said the St James' car park is a bit of a dead space and Kanji is right that there is a lot of potential for development there. Not least expanding the stadium and improving the Metro station. But not more identikit student accommodation or soulless retail to recycle money.
  4. Totally understand Wullie's point of view. NUFC under the Ashley/Pardew combo is the kind of thing that crushes fans and puts them off for good. Other than a corporate rebranding or moving the club to another location its as close as you can get to your team being killed as you know it. I feel a bit different though. Rafa being here is such a godsend, such a stroke of timing and outright good fortune, it's impossible for me not to embrace it. I watched his interview with Holloway from before the season started yesterday (hadn't seen it the first time around) and I was smiling the whole way through. Pure therapy to be able to listen to our manager and enjoy every word he's saying. Its similarly therapeutic to go to matches and see a team that is so obviously well-coached. This is not something to look upon lightly after the last 10 years. That said, there is always the reservation that Ashley is of course waiting in the background to destroy it all. Rafa is a genius but he's essentially propping up the whole thing precariously on his own. All it takes is for it go wrong and we're back to square one. Until there's Rafa's level of passion, knowledge and expertise running through the whole club's structure it is impossible to rest easy and enjoy the ride. That stops me emotionally investing back into it 100%. However for as long as Rafa is able to stomach Ashley and maintain his association with the club and fans, then I think we should probably do the same.
  5. A quality midfielder and wide player, of the level that Ritchie/Shelvey are, would see us probably beat Reading's points total. At the minute we're a couple of injuries and the AfCon away from having some less comfortable patches later in the season IMO. It's all about who's available to sign and if we can attract them. I wouldn't bother buying anybody else if they're just fillers for the Championship run in.
  6. Swansea getting what they deserve for giving an American a PL managerial job. Sickening stuff.
  7. It was a strange performance, because you felt if we stepped it up a bit we could have done them similar to what we did last time down here and got 4 or 5; but the second half we seemed to get caught in between attacking for more or just playing out the result - in the end not really doing either particularly well. So you had what was a very poor Cardiff side somehow making it nervous for us.
  8. Toughest game we'll play until Brighton, win it and we're absolutely pissing this.
  9. Looks like lovechild of Damien Duff and James McClean, grim.
  10. We'd run up cricket scores against some of the sides in this league with 2 complimenting strikers on the pitch and a slightly looser formation, IMO. But Rafa treasures the team shape, which will probably make us more consistent and also serve us better long term upon promotion. Not to mention in a potential cup semi-final against a top side...
  11. Mitro up top again for me. Can't drop the bloke after the last 2 games.
  12. I'm well on board the Mitro fan club atm. Fluctuates though. He's another bad game or red card away from me calling him a useless lumbering idiot.
  13. Just read those Bruce reviews. Never laughed that much in my life.
  14. As if its only his finishing that's letting him down. His all round game has been extremely underwhelming on an individual level. Possibly because he's in the wrong position, possibly not.
  15. Anybody who doesn't think both clubs up here get mint attendances is clearly a nugget, IMO.
