He's a good manager who will always win stuff but his record with bringing young players through and building anything that lasts beyond 3 years or so is poor. He's obsessed with trophies and his own record in that regard. Plus he's been deeply unpleasant when in a management role for quite a long time now. Also his obsession with trophies and nullifying tactics lead to loads of dead rubber borefests whenever he's involved. Maybe he'll mature/mellow with age, otherwise I think most have had their fill of him.

If Rafa stays then we're obviously really fortunate that we're about the biggest club he can manage at the moment without going abroad. Well I say fortunate but as a club we do things so half-arsed that the whole thing's tarnished as fuck anyway. I've already found myself losing interest, having games on in the background without properly bothering with them etc. There's a self-enforced ceiling to what we can achieve and I've been long bored of the whole situation now. Would obviously rather Rafa stayed but meh.

The average person or pundit must just never bother trying to notice trends or something I know every situation is different but I'm honestly struggling to think of an occasion it's happened and things haven't gone badly quickly. Thing is with Solskjaer, on the basis of results versus previous he did deserve a shot at it, as did Roeder with us. But a club the size of Man Utd, and us at that time tbf, should be thinking a lot more big picture than "we're not losing much anymore so go on then". It sets clubs back by miles.

I'd love to see some stats on form under caretakers and form once they've been made permanent. Always seems to nosedive almost immediately, yet almost every club has fallen into the trap of doing it at some stage. Wonder why it is as well - to me it seems a lot of the time the players think the caretaker's a bit of a soft touch so they try to get him the job then once he gets it they fuck it off.

Bringing them on with 88 minutes played the way this game has panned out is utterly baffling.
