Champions League 2023/2024: Group F (Newcastle, Milan, Dortmund, PSG)
Interpolic replied to Marko NUFC's topic in Football
What's most pleasing about this for me is that during the horrible Ashley years I had an unshakable feeling that the damage he was doing was setting us so far back we would be beyond repair, or that it would take a decade or more. But look where we are off the back of some sensible investment over 18 months. An incredible achievement and one that should make our growth all the quicker. Can't wait for those CL nights next season, I'll be so excited and proud. -
Ironically the days of us being a sela club are long gone hahahahaha Alanis Morissette

The Europeometer™ (2024/25) - NUFC Qualify for Champions League

My dad must have died at a similar time. July 2016. He was also football, but mainly NUFC-obsessed. Me and my brothers took him to one last match while he was well enough in December 2016, it was a dull as dishwater 0-0 at home vs Everton until we lost it 0-1 with the last kick of the game And I will always treasure being able to go up and watch pretty much every Euro 2016 match with him at home, finally being sober after my problems with alcohol had wildly escalated in the prior months / years. Was able to be a good son without chasing a drink. England got knocked out by Iceland that year He would have been absolutely buzzing with what has happened at Newcastle (and to a lesser extent in recent years England) which crosses my mind often and gives everything a bittersweet tinge. There's no uplifting note to end this on, it's just a real shame that Ashley took this stuff away from us. Savour these moments with those you're close with. -
Cannot fucking stand Hinchcliffe.

OFFICIAL: Joelinton - Player of the Season 2022/23

It's really difficult because different players have stepped up at different times in the season. Went for Trippier for everything he gives us, on and off the pitch. He's helped transform the mentality at the club and we'd miss him more than anyone else if he wasn't in the side. -

Kane has had a mental season, just very quietly scores a goal every fucking game (or seems to).

I think the games coming somewhat thick and fast now for us is something that works in our favour. Might be my imagination but feel our best performances this season have came when playing 3 games in 10 days or whatever. -

Yeah, losing like that to a poor Everton side is either a freak result or a sign the wheels are coming off their season. Hopefully the latter. -

Brighton game is massive now. Win it and we'll do it. Anything less and it's too ropey to judge. Think we'll win but it won't be easy. -

Absolutely fucking sick of seeing Man Utd 1-0 Opposition, it's like the Cantona season all over again. -
I think this is the answer going forward tbh, Isak is not involved enough wide left and it knocks our balance off. Back to one of them on the bench or 4231 hopefully. Longstaff's injury just gives us a real headache cos we had a system that was working well.
