Was chatting with a Liverpool fan at work about the game. He said the game illustrated why he was annoyed to let Shelvey go, as Henderson is meant to link their play together but is pretty average, passing sideways a lot. Makes you wonder if Shelvey in the England squad last night would have been more useful. Obviously he needs to keep his head on his shoulders and work hard.

Made a great save. Top draw. But looking at their goal again, why the fuck does he lean back? Surely if he stand up straight it's easy to catch/punch? I think he's trying to tip it over the bar out of danger but misses it completely.

I don't want to get carried away. Two wins, yes, but against what could turn out to be two of the worst teams in the league this season: WHam & Swansea. Crystal Palace we should also look to beat. On the other hand, I don't mind losing to Man City/Liverpool/Chelsea if we're beating the teams in the bottom half to keep us up - not very ambitious but something to build on then. Swings and round-abouts.

This. Really weird treatment of him, you don't see this at other clubs. Usually, after a long injury he would be on the bench biding his time to get another shot, or, if he's the best option, goes straight back in when fit - why hasn't this been the case? How has someone like Blob outdone him?

Did anything come of the stamp on Hayden yet? The ref didn't see it apparently so surely it can be looked at retrospectively?

I liked the look of him, probably needs a couple more games to get up to speed. I'd go with him over Shelvey.

If we have alternates, put them in. It a) gives them a chance to prove they ought to be starting in the Prem, b) means we won't injure anymore first-teamers and c) sends a message to those who have been shite in the first team so far - buck your ideas up.

In fairness, if someone offered you a new job with less pay, more work and having to uproot your life to a new place which potentially isn't as nice as where you are now, would you take it? Not a totally fair comparison. You'd assume he enjoys playing football, most people aren't doing their dream job as a day-job.

Can't believe we're having trouble shifting so many. Surely they'd prefer first team football and a cut of a transfer fee - even if it's to the championship, the fees are still high. Obviously people will say it's due to silly wages that they won't get elsewhere, which is possible, but that's an awful attitude to have and I'd chuck them right off in the reserves.

I don't like to be Debbie-Downer, but these are my feelings too. Think we're off to a bad start. Gayle is yet to show he can run riot in the Prem for a full season and is already in doubt - he's our main man and it doesn't bode well. Going to be a struggle of a season unless the signings come thick and fast (hope I'm wrong, obviously).

I hope this can go a long way towards destigmatising mental health issues. Good lad, glad he's on the mend.
