I think I read an article which showed that he was actually fairly average on his ratings, and made some big mistakes in Serie A, however they were not as seen as widely as his international and UEFA matches were.

I’m shitting myself and been a bit down about it to be honest. With all the talk of Man Utd being in form, us losing form. The finals in the 90’s. I never really followed football back then, but I remember getting caught up in the buzz. I remember watching the games and not knowing what was happening but just knowing that the other team had scored and that we were going to lose. Just after that my mam met my stepdad and he got me into football. I remember the semi’s against Marseille when I thought we would do it, then the semi final against Man Utd and Quarter final against Lisbon. I cried myself asleep when Sporting beat us. The Alkmaar defeat a few years later also hurt, as did the Benfica game. I had tried to resign myself to us never winning anything again, but we all live in hope no matter how much we deny it. As much as we are the worlds richest team, and people expect us to go on and compete and win trophies, nothing is guaranteed. This could still be the last chance any of us have of seeing us win something. To get this far, to make this much progress and to be done by those pack of bastards who’s fan base will largely be treating this game as a Pre-season friendly would hurt. No team automatically deserves to win something, but nor do we deserve to lose once again, nor do most Man Utd fans deserve to win something that they have little respect for.

They now have guidelines for appeals. You have 2 days to appeal, so we have until the end of Tuesday to appeal. The panel would sit on the Wednesday to assess the outcome. An appeal to delay it would be pointless, we can only appeal if we think it can actually be overturned.

In the FA Cup we have seen the likes of Wigan and Portsmouth win the final. Both of their wins were against the run of form etc. I also think a lot of people are over playing Man Utd’s form. Heck they got beat to Arsenal a couple of weeks ago, and were lucky to get a draw at home to Leeds, and beat them a few games later. Their performances haven’t been all that when people have watched them play. They are not the unbeatable force everyone thinks they are. Aye I’d rather be playing Nottingham Forest in the final, but if you had offered any of our fans at any point in history the chance to win the cup by playing Man Utd in the final, everyone would take it and be optimistic. This season we have lost 3 games all season going into the end of February, one of them against Liverpool where 1 goal for us was disallowed despite being ok, and losing by a goal in 98th minute when 5 minutes were added on. Another game where some of our 1st team players were out to be replaced by squad players we know are not good enough, and the 3rd against Liverpool where on another day we would have won, despite being down to 10 men for vast majority of it. On top of that we have not lost 2 games on the bounce and in games where we have been poor, we have still got a result out of it. I’m not saying we are going to win, that’s why we play the game, but fuck me, it’s not the straight forward loss everyone else thinks it is. So go out there, stick £100 on Man Utd to fuck the bookies over incase the worst happens, have hope, and remember, even if the worse does happen, at least we aren’t some Cockney cunt who ‘supports’ Man Utd who couldn’t really actually give a fuck about this game, and we actually live for our club. Newcastle is our city. It is where we work, where we, our family, and friends live, it’s where we call home, it’s our lives. We are Geordies, we give the world the electric light, we give them the steam engine, built them the ships, where the coal for our power stations and even our fires at home came from. Is it? Handball itself is a yellow card offence, the red card part of it comes to whether or not you think the defender is going to be between the attacker and the the goal. That in itself depends if the attacker has to take a touch to control the ball. I don’t think you can say either way that he would or wouldn’t. In my opinion it is far too subjective to make such a call. If we are to appeal then it needs to be discussed between the club and Pope. The club will probably gain a fine if the appeal is knocked back, and Pope will probably receive another game ban. They both together have to decide if it’s worth it.

Violent conduct and danger/reckless challenges are 3 game bans, so too is spitting (might be 4 for spitting). Everything else is a 1 game ban.
