Marveux is a more direct player than colback/Anita or Tiote, who, all of different nationalities are not as direct or/positive with the ball. It's about what people want from certain positions and jack buggery to do with local or not. On the flip side, look at the frenzy there is when we have a local number 9; even though it shouldn't and doesn't really matter.

100 % spot on. All of who, are better with the ball at the feet/more creative than their peers/replacements. That's the (valid) criticism, not because they are foreign. Dummett needs an extended run at CB. That's his future. If he can play as a full back once in blue moon too then so be it.

This foreigners over local lads stuff is bollocks like. People just don't think he's an effective left back in the attacking sense. Not that it really matters, I for one am happy we have a decent local prospect for centre half.
  4. Hey! yay! toon crew get offered McLeod
  5. It's his slick demeanor. Despite not being able to master English. His glib and confident air serves him well. Shamelessly. He comes across as credible for those not paying attention and for some reason these sort of runs mean more than longer bad ones if you are not one of the Fleet Street darlings.
  6. Don't think we need him. Not sure what he brings We've found that special thing. We're flying without Ings.
  7. To be fair I've seen glaciers more mobile than Kevin Nolan

I have a lot more time for Dummett at centre half and that's his future here. He's not what you need in a full back in the prem. He's a massive upgrade on Williamson as well.

Aye I know we played knock a dog run as kids.

Cut to the chase. Is he pants or not? If your expectation level was low in the first place then fair enough. I do think people are romanticing the effectiveness of his crossing and dead balls. He hasn't really delivered consistently on that front, albeit scoring in some crucial goals in derbies and Europe. He's tidy enough and has a decent touch but we have enough players like that and he is an abysmal full back.

So he's done better than poorer signings so he isnt pants? That's hardly a good yardstick. I know it's taboo to knock a dog when he's down but the blokes been largely bilge despite the occasional free kick our decent spell of crossing.
  12. Good idea that mate. Somebody should pay you hundreds of thousands of pounds to do that. Even if it takes you two years. S'all good brah.
  13. Hoped you wiped up. There's no need to be sad either; it's perfectly normal.
  14. Yet Ryan Taylor is being gauged in comparison to beckham in his thread. Fucking nuts.
  15. Badji, badji, badji, badji. Mushroom, mushroom.
  16. No different to last season thus far. Our wins happen to have been in a bigger row.

Beckham had the subtle talent of being able to create space through intelligent positioning and awareness without necessarily needing to outpace or outmuscle someone. Quite a rare quality. The fact he's being used as a yardstick for the ability of Ryan Taylor makes about as much sense as a hog roast in Tel-Aviv.
  18. I can't figure out who that is aimed at; pretty sure no one slagged anyone off for going to away games. Plenty of stick for those criticising the protests or those actively wanting to lose. People were getting threatened at matches for protesting.

Good lad. 100% but he's been largely shite barring a few standout performances. Let's not rewrite the past.
