This is a three year old resource and doesn't really need a response. It will include 100's of millions worth of players that don't play for either of us anymore. Why do you keep going so far back? I'm talking about the PSR excuse here and now. Today. At the end of last season, when you finished 22 points ahead of us, how much better did you consider yourselves to be over us? I know this answer as I read the forum. You thought you were, and definitely were miles better than us. Let's not look at squad values from 2023, lets look at the quality of the squads in May 2025. How many of our players would you have said would get into your starting XI? I know the answer to this also, as I read the forum. 99% would take Amad over Murphy and only the clinically insane wouldn't take Fernandes over anyone. There were some who said they wouldn't take any of players over yours. That's how much better you considered yourselves to be. So to summarise, 6 months ago you would claim to have a better manager than than us, and for your starting 11 to have at least 8-9 superior players than ours. You then lost Isak and signed Wissa, Thiaw, Woltemade, Elanga and Ramsey. You went for the same players as us and even offered them more money, so tell me how PSR is now the reason you can't compete with us this season?
  2. Ooof. That's a lazy one from you Yorkie. Friendly reminder we're unbeaten in 11 and have been in and around the CL spots all season. I've also been critical of our recent performances. Just absolutely despise the PSR excuse.

    £100m sounds better than £95m.

I'm just interested to see how your summer window is.

I'm aware it benefits the bigger clubs with bigger revenues. It benefits Newcastle over the likes of Brentford, Fulham etc. too.

No. Let's not go back nearly 40 years. Let's just look at the last few years and present day. You've finished 4th and 5th recently and the general consensus from everyone is that you're a good side with top players and one of the best managers in the league. That's my view as well. Now add the fact that since the takeover you've spent more money than 75% of the league. That's the truth, whether gross or net spend. For the last year or two everyone was completely comfortable saying Man United were absolutely shite and needed a full rebuild that would take years. Now that you're having a bad season, the cry is that it's because of PSR and you can't possibly complete with the likes of Man United despite spending more than us in the summer. I know you started from a poor position 5-6 years ago, but you were in a better position than us two years ago, so it's baffling to hear how you can't compete with us all of a sudden despite pretty much matching our spend in that period after already being the superior side.

Eddie Howe has spent nearly £800m at you man. Anthony Gordon is paid the same as Bryan Mbeumo. Newcastle offered Sesko more money than we did. Gordon, Bruno G, Tonali, Joelinton etc. are all reported to be on £150k+. Your high earners earn similar to ours with the exception of Casemiro (who's leaving in three months) and Fernandes (who's on a different planet ability wise to all players mentioned combined). The issue isn't PSR. The issue is spending £100m+ on Jacob Ramsey and Anthony Elanga. 22 players bought by Howe at an average of £32m per player since the Saudi takeover. You're one of the biggest spenders in the league. Even despite the colossal Isak sale you're in the top five for net spend over the last five years, which is more than Liverpool and more than Man City. Your wages are catching up too. PSR this/PSR that and no responsibility for any mistakes. I find it a bit wild to be honest.
  10. Funny enough, most of the lads I've spoken to are anticipating a defeat in this one.

They got a bargain when players like Elanga and Wissa were going for £55m a pop.

Yes we had already signed Mbeumo and Cunha, but has also shipped out 5-6 first team players by this point as well and the full knowledge was there that a full PSR profit sale of Garnacho was also imminent. I don't know why any of that is overlooked. Hojlund will be a PSR gain as well and you're marking him as an "absolute disaster" which is part of the problem. This is a young lad we signed that was the clubs top scorer in his first season. You do know there's ~£40m coming in for him in a few months time? Napoli are obligated to buy him if they finish in the CL places. We've just upgraded on the lad, but he was never a bad player. Antony and Sancho were indeed disasters, but you're using them as a barometer for why it's had no impact on our 2025 rebuild? We signed Sancho in 2021 and Antony in 2022. We were in the Champions League and needed centre mids, a left back and a striker and couldn't afford any more permanent signings. We had to get Reguillon, Amrabat, Weghorst and Sabitzer on loan. You think we would have signed them if wasn't for PSR? We'd have bought much better players. They signed Wirtz and Ekitike for £170m and sold Quansah, Diaz, Kelleher, Nunez and Doak for £170m. When I say Newcastle have spent £250m+ in the summer, people will point to the net spend. Why don't we do it for other clubs as well if we're being fair? It just feels like you had the money and wages for the likes of Ekitike and Sesko etc. They just had a preference for other clubs. There's also a suggestion that the likes of Liverpool and Man United weren't even interested in these players but only signed them because Newcastle wanted them therefore they must be good. That's the most laughable suggestion of all IMO. We were scouting Sesko before he was out of nappies.
  13. Oh don't worry I'm happy. With Chelsea losing yesterday we have a 6 point buffer to the CL spots now but I'm still not entirely confident yet based on the recent performances. I'd snap your hand off right now if you offered me a point on Wednesday.
  14. Don't you start this.
  15. It might look that way, but I'm not convinced. Each performance has been worse than the last. We were average to shite against Palace, Everton, West Ham, Fulham and Spurs IMO. We're just getting a bit of luck now that Amorim didn't get.

He wanted to go to Liverpool. If he expressed interest in staying he would have been offered a big contract and you wouldn't have signed Woltemade. Simple as that. It was nothing to do with PSR. Called this stuff out constantly since we signed Sesko. Our results have no bearing on my voice. We were sitting in the CL spots under Amorim too.

Selling Isak was nothing to do with PSR. Come on.
  18. Glad you're focused on them now and not us.

I'm not going to argue against this, but it's not a factor at all in your summer window IMO. Yorkie (x) last week or the week before suggested that we got Sesko and you ended up with Woltemade because of PSR. This is despite the fact that Newcastle offered higher wages than us for Sesko and their respective transfer fees being very similar anyway. What makes it even more fickle, is that three months ago people on here were acting like they were glad they missed out on Sesko as Woltemade is better, even though that clearly is not and never was the case. PSR had absolutely nothing to do with it. You were making big money offers both in transfer fees and wages for players, but they just wanted to go elsewhere. That's something that happens every club as well, including us. It's not exclusive to Newcastle.

    Yoane Wissa

Yes. This was confirmed by Sesko's agent, and Andy Mitten (who only deals in concrete facts) reported this recently on a podcast as well stating that you offered Sesko more money than we did. It's why falling back on PSR as an excuse isn't always the way to go. Of course the argument is there that it benefits the bigger clubs, but I think it's disingenuous using it as an excuse for Newcastle's summer window. Newcastle signed Elanga, Woltemade, Wissa and Ramsey for more than what we paid for Sesko, Mbeumo, Cunha and Lammens for example. £500k vs. £550k in reported wages as well as that's usually go-to after the spend is similar. They were two smart buys from City. Your net spend was double theirs in the summer. Even with their big January where they signed Guehi and Semenyo your net spend for the year is similar. City know that you'll likely come back in for Trafford as well so why on earth wouldn't they exercise their option to sign him? They'll make a profit on him and Donnarumma's market value is far higher than what they paid for him. Genuine question. At what point do you just say that the recruitment was bad instead of blaming PSR on it?
  22. I'll be sick if these boring cunts win the league. Not even direct headers from corners. It's always pinball bollocks.
  23. Well we have to be fair. But that corner wasn't hard to turn. I'm hoping for a much better performance today though.
