I am looking at the bigger picture, which is why you won't hear any complaints from me that he's been sacked. I think you've answered some of your own questions to me there as well though. My biggest criticism of him by far was his decisions with certain players. Almost like he was trying to prove a point sometimes and it grated on me. The league finish last season wasn't good, but he brought us two trophies and for that we're grateful. I think he earned the start of this season to try and get it right but it'stime now to move on.

I think it's an easy job to take now. What does Amorim have to lose? If he turns us around and has us challenging again he'll be seen as a God. If he fails, he likely won't get the blame. Poisoned chalice, Glazers, Mourinho/Lvg/Ten Hag all failed etc. etc.

The only thing that is incredibly short-sighted is people acting like managers turn to shit overnight. Ten Hag is a good manager and a good coach, but he just couldn't get it right, just like other top managers couldn't. Consistency was the issue. We played some brilliant football for twenty minutes, then completely collapsed for the next twenty. I don't think anyone can really put their finger on it. It just shows the insane pressure you're under at this club though. We haven't been an elite club for over ten years yet a 55% win ratio, an average league position of 5.5 out of 20 and two more trophies added to the cabinet is not only seen as bad, but such a disaster to the point where the manager is mocked and ridiculed. It's beyond insane IMO.

I don't think so. We had glaring weaknesses in the squad like CDM, and we needed to address them. We had just beaten City in the cup final, and it was no fluke, with ten Hag setting us up perfectly for it. I think he just bought himself time with cup win and the feeling was that if we signed another quality centre back and CDM that he could progress, but it wasn't to be unfortunately. I think a lot is being made of the signings being his players as well but I don't think it's a big deal and those players will be valuable to any manager. If it is Amorim who comes in, it'll suit Ugarte especially as his best football came under him.

I put a lot of blame on the players as well, but it's been clear for 6 years Rashford is a huge problem and Ten Hag insisted on playing him over either Garnacho or Amad, who are hungrier and just simply better. Amad has been our most dangerous player this season, yet he brought Antony on before him the other night. In fact, since Amad won our player of the month, he didn't start him for the next four games. He signed Ugarte, but isn't giving him a chance to settle in. He's actually went back to Casemiro and Eriksen instead. What's the point? We sold Wan-Bissaka, because we had a standout performer at right back in Dalot. He then proceeds to move him to left back and put a new signing at right back who's completely comfortable on the left. Dalot has since been very exposed playing out of position and it's clear his confidence was going, and that miss is probably a byproduct of that. The constant swapping on centre backs probably hurt him too. De Ligt and Martinez are by far the best two we have and he was rotating them or subbing them for Jonny Evans in games. ------------------------------------ Thoughts on Amorim. How can you not get excited? Arguably the best appointment available at this time. He plays a completely different system to Ten Hag though so will be another "process." Either way, we aren't going to be any worse.

You think we didn't support Mourinho and Ole? The only manager since Fergie who never received the long term support they probably deserved is Moyes, but Moyes was never good enough and I'm glad he was shown the door early.

Beyond the point of trying to understand why it goes wrong now. Under Ten Hag it was just wildly inconsistent. I suspect none of you watched the game as it was on the same time as your match, but the first half against West Ham is arguably the best we've played in 18 months. Chance after chance after chance, cutting them open with ease. Garnacho should have had two, Hojlund had a good chance, Rashford missed a good chance and Dalot probably had the miss of the season so far. Crossbar was hit twice. Keeper had a worldie of a save as well. We were genuinely brilliant. Then the second half comes and we're absolutely shite. Is that Ten Hag's fault? Who knows. It's been the same for ages now though. We show flashes of brilliance but can never keep the level up and there's inevitably a defensive blunder and we lose the game. I actually couldn't believe we lost that one against West Ham though. He's probably deserved the sack based on other results and some decisions he's made recently, but it felt harsh based on the West Ham game. What I do hate is that he's perceived to be a bad coach now because it's gone wrong. Mourinho, LvG, Ten Hag etc. didn't become bad coaches overnight.

What do you want to know? Ask away. Feel like we've all come to terms with Ten Hag's sacking for what feels like forever now.
-
Nagelsmann or Amorim probably.

Don't tease me.

I'm all good. I liked him, but it's a results game. He leaves disgraced, with people laughing at him, yet won more major trophies in 24 months than some wee clubs in the North East have won in 60 years. Wor Gareth will steady the ship.

That place you and Shak were at yesterday should be earmarked for next time. Looked quality. There must have been 12 people playing around the world on a single dartboard at one point.

Chilli Padi was lovely like. Had Sri Lankan food for lunch as well. These are options we just don't have at home.

@Shays Given Tim Flowers location?

Shak sent me a picture of a Guinness he had last night. It looked like a sourdough starter. Horrific stuff.

Disco got me once.

Why are you assuming I'm in the home end?
-
No. I'm heading to Newcastle for the Lockwood Cup at the weekend and since our game is on at 3pm and won't be shown anywhere I've thought why not take in some live Premier League football. A few people put me off the idea of Shearer's.

Going to this. Looking forward to seeing Minteh in the flesh.
