Reckon Rooney will catch Shearer? He's only just over halfway now so I say not. I thought for a while he would break his record, but since Rooney is dropping deeper and deeper I starting to think he won't. To think Shearer had two bad injuries as well and still hit 260 league goals. Incredible. I owe Decky 100 quid if Rooney doesn't break it. Remember arguing over shots one night of who was the better player. Aa centre forwards Shearer was certainly better pre-Goodison park. The thing that sets them both apart was how much tougher Shearer was mentally compared to Rooney. Rooney is a lot better in that department now than he was. His temperament was shocking a few years ago. He was still dropping pretty deep last year and scored 34 goals. I reckon he'll run Shearers record pretty close. I think he has 90 goals in his last 145 or something. That's pretty impressive, especially with everything else he does for the team. Both joys to watch IMO. We don't get centre-forwards like Shearer anymore.

Dinho I hope you're whacking the majority of that win on a Newcastle victory.

Yorke is bound to have more than Heskey like. What about Anelka as well saying he had 56 clubs?

I was surprised when someone told me he wasn't and checked it. Does someone want to check the right answers? We probably have them all. Yeah we do. This is the most winnable game this side of Christmas. Why increase the tension and pressure on the players by delaying a game?

Apart from his excellent goalkeeping ability, the thing I miss the most about Edwin is his ridiculous faces when attempting a save.

Subdued. Subdued. I don't even know how anyone can have that opinion. For the 3-1 year I gave up tickets for a major Irish festival so I could watch the final. Even when we scored to make it 1-1 I knew we had no chance. I've never seen a game where we have been outplayed more than that one. Horrible game to watch. I remember putting up a status on Facebook in which I couldn't take any positives from the match apart from the fact we got to the final and I was proud of the team for that. Iniesta was getting man marked by two men at stages of the game and it was still no good. Just lightyears ahead of anything we had in midfield.

Oh and we were a strong defensive team. IIRC we didn't concede a goal away from home in one of those CL campaigns. We were hard to score against, and Messi ripped us several new bumholes.

Trust me mate, Messi was FAR from subdued. We could do absolutely nothing against his movement. He wasn't the best player in either final for me, Iniesta was, but he was deadly and was simply too good for five of our midfielders and four of our defenders to deal with. He scored in both finals btw, including a header, and while VDS was aging and on the verge of retirement, he was still class.

Been using him in football manager.

on another note....looking forward to Real v Atletico Can't see you losing that game at all now. It's so important, considering the run of games Newcastle have coming up. 1/1 at home is a bit mad against Wigan. Suggest you watch our game at their place from last season Frogston. The 4-0? I watched it. Wigan always go on insane runs near the end of the season to defy the odds and stay in the league. They beat us in that run as well. This is at SJP and I think it's much more important to Newcastle to win this game given the fixtures for December. We'll all be hoping for a Newcastle win tomorrow! it's a Monday night game. Time difference. It's Monday tomorrow here... Need to pay more attention.
