Agreed on the Barnes transfer being an odd one. Their approach of “we’ll go for a quality player if they’re available and we think they’re good value” would have been a great approach if we didn’t have Gordon already. Even though I think Gordon is already a significantly better and more versatile player. However, if we hadn’t had Gordon, fair enough, it’s not the most adventurous signing but it’s a very solid one. Unless we are looking at playing Gordon in other positions then Barnes is second to Gordon at LW by a distance. We’re not in a position really to be having a £25m player as a backup with little versatility. I like Barnes and I think his striking from distance is a big advantage but he’s reliant on Gordon either being injured or playing elsewhere for game time. I don’t think Barnes will ever be able to play anywhere other than LW. We have Willock, Anderson, Joelinton, Gordon and Barnes who can all play on the left wing in different fashions. On the right we have Miggy and Murphy, with Gordon being a back up option there. It’s a ridiculously imbalanced depth for the two positions

Lovely quotes, I’d love to believe Sean could push on in the areas he describes but I’m not convinced sadly

Why not make it like the eliminator in Gladiators. “Top Six” go on the referees first whistle and score multiple goals into an open net then on the second whistle the opposing team gets to join in. However, they can only score if they dribble the ball up the Travelator first

10/10 for condescension with the tolerate line. Ian’s a quality poster

I’d take him for sure although I haven’t watched him play in years

He’s done you TCD

Can someone explain Chris Wood to me? I really liked him in the early years of his career. When he came to us I thought he was past it, he then ended up looking completely finished when he played for us in terms of striking ability and physicality. He goes to Forest and looks far more mobile, has a great finish on him and better movement. What’s going on?

It’s like football is trying to kill itself

Love him, just don’t leave us for one of the awful PL clubs. When you go, please go to Spain

His attitude is outstanding, you know that he’ll always give his all for England and for us

Muscle injuries are a major scare. We need to prioritise buying players who have no real history of recurring muscle and hamstring injuries. I do think Madueke has a big future if he stays fit though

Completely agree, would be all about the lowball offer

Hard to see Grealish staying at Man City. He’s good enough to start for most teams in the league and these are his best years. He’s got an ego and will want out I think

I’m at a point where I’d like to see some unserious questions asked ”Sven, who farts the loudest in the changing room?” ”Eddie, you and Mad Dog are in a ring up against a lion and a kangaroo. Who takes which?”

Impressive stats, especially for a FB

Not sure where to post this but we desperately need a few good news stories at the club right now. Could do with some news about club infrastructure and plans etc. This has been a really dispiriting time as a fan

ACL recoveries have improved dramatically in recent years but it’s not a given he’ll return the same player, especially as the issue has flared up already this season. Tino doesn’t look any lesser a player despite his lay off and hasn’t lost his pace. Sven doesn’t have any to begin with so hopefully that’s not a concern

That scenario is still amazing. I’d have no issue spending £100k for the rest of my life

I was already strapped in

Going to be in Suffolk over those dates otherwise I’d have been around for a drink

Agreed, they’d be mad to schedule matches during 9-5

Slightly ironic given who we’re owned by

In fairness, the government are desperate for investment nationally from KSA. Whether we have a Labour government in six months’ time or nine months, they will share the same feelings as the Tories. They’ll be the ones who shape how the regulator functions so it feels like an independent regulator is more likely to aid those who want to spend big
