Well sure, but that’s still a form of tapping up, you work out terms for them which you know will unsettle them at their club. They then go to their club and say “I want this otherwise I’m putting in a transfer request”. It puts the club who have the player in a much weaker position than just a simple “would this player be open to a move” discussion. We never used to hear about players having agreed personal terms with a buying club first before anything else

He did pick up a lot of injuries, nothing major but I really want him to stay fit so we can see what Eddie’s plans are for him
-
If he does go, I’d love to know exactly how Howe feels about it, we won’t be able to read clearly through his media chat
-
I can see the argument, we don’t have much to show for ourselves in the last two decades. However, we do have some recent lads who’ve made the jump to first team pro level
-
Seems categorical that most recent tweet. He wouldn’t be risking it all being that sure unless he knew it was happening. Must be a good source
-
Yeah, there’s been a major switch up, at least in terms of the official line. That used to be called “tapping up” but maybe because they all do it now, they’ve accepted it
-
Bizarre like given the trajectory we’re on. Not a ringing endorsement for our academy. You’d think youngsters would want to be here at all costs right now but Chelsea’s academy is clearly more successful than ours

“Maxi’s been found floating in the Tyne, source of death TBC” ”Quick update on that last tweet, he’s actually been spotted in Nando’s and went for Lemon and Herb with Peri Peri fries, sorry for jumping the gun. He’s alive and well. HTL”

It is a tricky situation, none of us know any of the real facts in these cases but far too many people want to pitch up and take a hardline stance based on prejudiced views they already hold. It’s infuriating

Can’t handle the amount of people that will come out and be like “he’s had his life ruined, who’s going to make this right. Women can’t be allowed to get away with this”
-
Will wait to see what line up we go for before dropping some bunce

It’s criminal how much we have to listen to Robbie Savage. It’s not even like he was a good player, the argument can’t be made that he’s adding comments from a position of experience. I don’t mind commentators having zero professional footballing experience but if they’re a total dickhead that is really arrogant and they have nothing to back it up, why do we have to suffer?

On your bike son, go rescue your career
-
His career has been so bizarre, should have joined the mighty geordies when he had the chance
-
That’s a swap deal (with cash on top) I could get behind. What major swap deals have happened in recent years? Barely ever happens does it?
-
Agreed, let’s give it up for Jack27, #positivity, #bekind, #believeinyourself

Longstaff went through a major fan transformation last season. Murphy did too to a lesser extent. Don’t think that’s due to race, just down to Longstaff playing more minutes and contributing more in a more pivotal squad role. Murphy only had to prove himself because he’d largely been terrible for us in his entire premier league career. Glad to say he played really well from February I think it was. I think the fans really like Murphy but it’s hard to get behind a player if they miss a ton of chances

Krap? That what we’re going with is it?

I left Whitley when I was 18 and returned in December last year as a 36-year old. Whitley Bay is absolutely class now. Was a proper decaying seaside town all through my youth, known only for being a shitty stag do / hen do spot on South Parade. Now, the beaches are amazing, the dome is class, there are some really good restaurants and as mentioned, Park View is one of the nicest high streets going outside of some of the really rich areas around the country. Delighted to be back
-
Hopefully that comes off, probably more than anyone else in our squad he needs to be playing football. Could be championship or league one, just get him out and playing every week
-
What? There any more context to this?
-
Sure, I imagine the overall feeling is one of being massively supported but you never know, if he’d said “my top target is Maddison” and he got overruled by others saying he wasn’t a priority and there was an internal battle about that then I could see how that could lead to frustrations. This is all just meaningless speculation but Eddie’s normally very tight-lipped, seems unusual for him to talk like that
-
Hmm, worrying comments if that’s the case. Unless it’s an acceptance and frustration at FFP rather than anything in our control
-
Is he talking about his own frustrations and dark days or talking on behalf of someone else like ASM?

Arsenal are hilarious, ever since that Samir Nasri song and adulation for him I’ve found them funny but they really are the ultimate wet wipe club
