He’s deceptively good at nipping the ball away from the opposition and playing it into space. As his block showed yesterday as well, he reads the play very well. I hadn’t realised there was as much of a defensive side to his game until recently

I don’t think we’ll be in for Lingard for the first-team, he could potentially be backup but why would he want to go from back up at Man U to back up here? Reckon he’ll get a move to a mid-tier club which doesn’t have big money to spend

Was definitely not our best player but he delivered a fantastic cross to Willock which should have been put away and scored a wonder goal. The rest of his play was hit and miss, gave it away cheaply a few times. I’d give him a 7, based on the overall performance because he didn’t control the midfield. He’s clearly going to be amazing though

KWP was their best player last night, don’t watch much of Southampton but he’s clearly class, great pace, great technique, great vision

First half was a difficult watch, second half much much better

To be honest, I was surprised the ref gave us the free kick. Refs seem to always give the free kick the other way when someone grabs the ball. A yellow would be a good deterrent but a bit over the top

The ref did a good job tonight, let the game flow. Obviously no contentious decisions helped but it’s nice to watch a game where there’s no issues with the officials

Didn’t think he was poor at all, did what was asked of him, he’s never going to be able to convince anyone of anything when he only gets five-ten mins anyway

He can hold his head up high, he doesn’t have a lot of quality but I thought he played better and better as the match went on and his block just before he got cramp was great

This lad is fucking class, picks everything out of the air, reads the game well, somehow doesn’t get beaten for pace when it looks like he should, love him

That save off Salisu is enormous. Not only saving the full three points but can you imagine that mood in the camp if we’d lost that game at the end. Helps keep the momentum up

I feel like he was trying too hard for a lot of the game and it meant he held onto the ball for too long or tried a pass that wasn’t on but you can see his quality when he’s on the ball and that finish was unreal. Once he gets more game time and people can read his play more he’ll get a load of assists

Frustrating again, how he manages to turn opportunities into nothing never fails to surprise me
