  1. Don't think Targett matches peak Enrique for us, like, even on a very good day. At his best pretty much nothing got past Enrique whatsoever, whereas we were able to observe Targett's limitations more in games against the top six teams, particularly when it comes to pace. Describing him as a revelation offensively is also going way over the top, it's the solidity and composure he brought to the left hand side which was so valuable for us in the second half of the season. Offensively he was merely okay imo, and it looks like that may be why we are now weighing up our options.
  2. Pretty sure there's a lot of talented players the world over we can attract out there without resorting to mid table fodder
  3. Definite PR move, I think some might be forgetting what a master of self aggrandisement and shaping media/public perceptions he was in his time here.
  4. Why not sign a goalkeeper who is a definite upgrade on Dubravka (i.e. unambiguous top six quality) or wait until one becomes available? That should be the general mindset behind squad improvement this summer across the board.
  5. Not sure that he's better than Dubravka at all.
  6. Embarrassing stuff, couldn't imagine wanting to write an article like this (at a time there is such a feel-good factor around the club, especially).
  7. Bullshitter account I think, thankfully
  8. For me, Burn's decision making (positioning in particular) has been suspect on occasion, and Schar's use of the ball has been invaluable in transitioning to a style which is approaching the way Howe wants us to play. I think we should be aiming to challenge the top six next season and Burn is further from being a top six centre half than Schar is overall imo. Burn was a great signing though all things considered, no doubt about that.
  9. Would much rather see Schar + an upgrade on Burn as a first choice pairing, personally.
  10. Class again today, showing the kinds of qualities which led to him becoming such a valuable player under Rafa.

  12. Henderson would be underwhelming, not convinced he's even as good as Dubravka as things stand. Looked good at Sheffield United under Wilder in part because of their defensive setup, similar to the way that goalkeepers enhance their reputation at Burnley (low block, limiting of space, inviting long-range efforts from the opposition). Aside from that, there's little evidence right now that he's a top six level goalkeeper - and that's the level we should be looking at if we're looking to improve on Dubravka (imo, not a priority this summer).

Will always have fond memories of his time here under Rafa, wish him all the best
  14. 4-5 signings at the level of Bruno and Trippier and there's no reason we can't be in the conversation for the top six. We've already shown form this season which suggests we aren't far away from the likes of Leicester and West Ham. We want to be setting our ambitions for the upcoming season as high as they possibly can be, not because of unrealistic expectations but because that's the mindset of a buoyant and ambitious club which is on the ascent. The results against Liverpool and Man City don't really hold much significance in relation to any of that, either.

    Jesse Lingard

They were hardly given an opportunity to prove themselves at Chelsea from which anyone could arrive at any kind of conclusion, it's a disingenuous comparison. Aside from age (which is definitely a factor to consider), players who have demonstrated they don't fit the ambitions of the top clubs should be left for mid-table clubs to pursue if they want, we should aim higher.

Should be a hard policy of no "big six" cast offs imo.
  17. Great read. loving the articles that are coming out around the club at the moment.
