After reading that yesterday I think this makes the most sense for us. We’ve had absolutely nothing from our forwards all of last season. If we can bring a poacher in with Almiron and ASM it’ll look like a massive improvement. If he offers nothing else he’s still equally what everyone else did but he’s adding a goal threat. He has to be cheap as well. He basically ticks all of our usual target boxes. If we signed him, a left back and maybe another wide player then we’d easily achieve Ashley’s 17th dream.

Murphy looked decent when he first arrived and then his confidence fell to pieces. I hope he kicks on this season as we’ll likely need him. I imagine Bruce’s style of management would help him as well. He’s also another than got a rough deal from a certain section of the fan base. I’ve never really grasped the thought process behind getting on a player’s back who’s playing without confidence.

No. There is no suggestion from any angle or source that it's still a thing so for me, the deal is completely finished. Everyone involved has moved on. Shame I thought it would have been done by now. Very strange. Reading between the lines there seems to be some sort of talks behind the scenes that they want to keep quiet. Caulkin mentioned something about if a bid could be revisited or words to that effect. My gut feeling is there might be something going on but nothing pressing or imminent. At best if there’s a desire to make it happen there could be something in the future. I think realistically it’s dead though and I’m still gutted about that.

Townsend? We’re not linked with him. Didn’t get a lot of game time last year and Palace have just signed Eze. We need someone who can play on that side and he’d be cheap. Or is he done at this level now?

Pardew is leagues worse than Bruce. Pardew made it hard supporting us when we had some good players. Bruce is more systematic of our current status. How long ago does it seem since the Rafa or Poch debate ?

One of the reasons I hope the moneyball consortium make a move for us is so we aim for these outside of the box type of transfers. The type that could really get you ahead as a club without potentially costing your club it’s whole budget.

I find it absolutely baffling it’s just been dropped without answers. No journalists has really done a post-mortem on what happened. We’ve basically been told to keep going by Staveley, Rick rolled by her husband and the media and NUST have all apparently let it go since the Premier League meeting and the fan base has been told a grand total of fuck all. We’re now into Bruce down playing our chances this season, absolutely awful transfer targets and all of the media types that looked down on us wanting the Saudi deal now seemingly going missing while Ashley continues to run us as close to the line as he can get away with.

Given Fraser plays in the same position as ASM, that’s the point? Unless... Given his commitment to Bournemouth when they needed him added to the fact we’re going to need the players to go over and above again to stay up I’m not seeing this is a good transfer. We need a striker and left back as a priority and blowing probably most of the budget to pay his wages seems like a shit idea.

I actually think they'll keep him this season, perhaps Origi will go instead I read just before Sheff United are in poll position to take him on loan.
