  1. This reply sums it all up
  2. Utter bollocks for clicks. The PL doesn't police FFP.
  3. As for Henderson - Shot stopping - about equal to Dubravka; Distribution - better than Dubravka. So all in all, an upgrade on a position that many on here would agree isn't a top priority. And if it's a loan with option, all the better. No transfer fee to improve a position, and if we find someone else in the next year, we can send him back. It's mildly disappointing that the first transfer business we do isn't a foreign superstar, but it's clever, and quick business to get a English player in early doors. I'm all for it.
  4. Love how Targett literally has the sweet, awkward demeanour of a chartered accountant who has been pressed into being a left-back That nervous "ha ha ha" after the Bruno intervention was class.
  5. January transfers will be based on where we are at that point. If we have a crack at Europe (maybe sitting anywhere 5th to 8th), and there is an identifiable weakness, we'd do some business.
  6. Insane heat map in his time here. He's everywhere.
  7. Amanda is so clearly loving it. I can't think of any other club in the league where the passion for the club and excitement over what will come so clearly manifests at all levels of the hierarchy - owners to manager to players and through to the fans. Howe fist-bumping Trippier's kid, all the little, genuine touches. Electric. We won't be looking back now. The owners are totally hooked and are fully on-board.
  8. I don't know why that rumour has generated any discussion at all, it's clearly the most made up of made up things. And the only basis I can fathom is that our new owners were looking at him when they were first thinking of buying the club, almost two years ago. Cut, paste, get all the rage clicks.
  9. Only if we want "the next step" to be backwards, lol. It's utter tosh and I can't see a single person believing it, not sure why they'd bother to run it.
  10. I have been banging the Andrea Belotti drum for the longest time on the "Realistic Transfer Targets" thread - he can be the Craig Bellamy to Wilson's Shearer. Fast, strong, skillful, can play anywhere in a front three, can play alongside Wilson, and can substitute for Wilson when he's injured. Best of all, he's on a free. Just need a nice signing-on fee and we can get him and Ekitike as the young talent. Ditch Gayle and...erm...Wood.

That underlapping run where he was fed by Almiron - I'd imagine under Bruce he'd pass and just....stop. Howe doesn't need to do anything particularly special, just coaching them in simple pass-and-move makes the team so much better going forward and so much better to watch. These are basics that a proper top-tier team should have down as first principles, man.
  12. Calvert-Lewin has got nothing on this fella. All those instinctive pop shots and that Beckham long chip, he looks 100 times sharper than DCL.
  13. Yeah, particularly in the first bit, and when he pulled up the possession stats (and wow were we spectacular). In the end the "larger story" for the neutral was how Arsenal screwed up top 4, so I get all that Arsenal bias. The key thing that baffles me, especially if I were the owners, is how do we strengthen this side? When they are clicking, and with Wilson on fire, I can't see any of this first-string being droppable. At most I can see the need for a top-class right forward to replace Almiron. World-class defenders, CMs and strikers won't be happy to come here to be rotated, and getting a bairn like Ekitike to cover for when Wilson gets his inevitable layoff won't result in the same number of goals a fully-fit Wilson can provide. Just need that little something to address the dickings we got from Man City and Spurs and we are well on the way to a great 2022-23 season.

    Joelinton

That pathetic Everton fan replying to the tweet though What a fucking loser.
  15. Kicker has us in for Kalajdzic ourselves. In the last year of his contract at Stuttgart. Plays like a cross between Big Dunc and a newborn foal. 25 million euros should be a no-brainer.
  16. Dortmund are also "looking at" Karim Adeyemi and Timo Werner to be Haaland's replacement. I think if Adeyemi goes to them (and it's looking likely), then we'd be in with a shout for Ekitike. Edit: Just seen that Adeyemi has already signed for Dortmund. A really astute buy and surely they have their "young promising replacement for Haaland" sorted.
  17. Phillips sitting slightly deeper with Joelinton and Bruno in a midfield 3 of a 3-5-2 would be rock solid. Front 2 of Paqueta/another "No. 10-type" player and Wilson/another striker. Trippier and Aaron Hickey/Renan Lodi as wingbacks. In this scenario, the minimum incomings would be Philips, a No 10 (Paqueta, Dybala, even Lingard if we must. ASM could be rotated in a pinch), another striker (Osimhen, Nunez, David, Isak, Nketiah, Ekitike etc), a left wingback (Lodi, Hickey), a CB (Botman, Badashile). With this complement, we could easily adapt to playing 3-5-2 against the trickier sides, and 4-3-3 against the rest, using ASM and the 10 as wide forwards in that scenario. Just plugging in all the names we have been linked with of late (apart from Dybala).
  18. The two hottest young forwards in January, Alexander Isak and Jonathan David, have since hit a poor run of form and transfer links to the "big" clubs have died down somewhat. Wonder if they would be worth a cheeky punt?
  19. When he was linked with us in January, everyone thought he was hot shit - except for the actual Portuguese Benfica supporter on here, who just thought he was shit. Controversial.
  20. Absolutely won't turn my nose up at Richarlison, man. Under Howes coaching and management, and surrounded by positive fellow Brazilians (bring in Paqueta too, while we're at it), and he'd be a top, top forward asset.
  21. So many out-of-contract players in the summer, we’d have a field day (and easily stay within FFP) if we convince them of “the project”. Pay parity is a major stumbling block though. Not to mention not being in Europe. Boubacar Kamara - free Erikssen - free Dybala - free Lingard - free Andrea Belotti - free So we’ could have a Defensive mid, two attacking mids, and two strikers, all world-class, without spending a penny on transfer fees. Hypothetically of course.
  22. Danjuma was linked with us about a month ago. He's doing great in Spain and is a more direct option to ASM, if we were going to rotate the left forward player. Would be an astute buy.
  23. The only threat is the England job. Otherwise I don't see him going anywhere at all, especially if the owners prove to him this summer that their ambitious vision isn't just hot air. Imagine being the manager to take Newcastle back to the very top, and seeing what you can do if properly backed in the transfer market. It's much more exciting than being airdropped into an established "big" side. Our owners seem to like him and trust him too, he's a modern young manager, highly professional and speaks well and looks good for the organisation on the whole. They could not have been more lucky to end up with Eddie Howe.
  24. "Sport Witness" (lol) claims that Newcastle will have scouts at the Leicester-Roma match to watch....Nicolo Zaniolo. That's a good link - young, attacking, right-sided yet can play as a forward or a midfielder. Either one of him or Tammy Abraham from Roma will do. ASM - Ivan Toney - Zaniolo as a front three will be tasty.
  25. Steve Bruce staying on at West Brom will see the immediate transfers of Clark, Hendrick, Ritchie and Darlow there as soon as the window opens.
