  1. Decent result doesn't sound like we particularly good. Our home form seems to still be good but sounds like away less so. Maybe a reality check for some who think we are going to repeat the mad form of last season but disappointed that the brazillians have been poor. Better teams will be bullied in midfield by brighton though.
  2. I mean either the premier league care about PIF being dodgy or not, I would love to see them suddenly be shocked and appalled to discover gambling going on in this casino PIF are involved in some dodgy shit
  3. Does he have an agent that demands ludicrous fees and that's putting people off?
  4. I think we want to immediately improve first team squad first and foremost which means players with some experience who aren't prospects too far down the line or possibly unsuitable for the league. I imagine once we are largely happy with the first team squad we will add depth to it with more Ashworth style signings who will develop and grow into first team positions rather than needing to work right now.
  5. Cabaye was very good mind just not for a great length of time by the time he left he was already declining in mobility and by the time he ended up at Crystal palace he was just a slow defensive mid who liked to do wild tackles. Not Bruno's caliber of course but he was very good
  6. What a shame for him considering he made a point of trying to come into the season as fit as he ever has been. I don't think he will be too badly missed tbh and howe will keep him involved
  7. I definitely want a more defensively minded player to sit there and one who can play keep ball ad infinitum but not neccessarily for first choice strongest teams, more as an option when we need to calm games down and keep hold of the ball and allow Bruno to play further forward. This is a luxury however and clearly not worth spending funds on this imminently

    Joelinton

I mean I completely get him being behind Casemiro and Fabinho but Fred being more of a footballer than him is a wild take, and I think Fred sometimes get unfairly scapegoated...
  9. Looks like McClaren has just told him a bad dad joke
  10. Potter is doing a fantastic job there, I am not going to argue over who is better really of course think Howe for what he has done but they are quite different. The one thing I worry about the Potter for England noise is he seems a systems manager who has taken his patient time building a squad out of fairly low key parts to play the football they want to play. His first season wasn't very successful but the board were patient and trusted him. International manager you don't have the time to put complex systems in place for the squad, don't have the time with them all to subsume to the system and will have a hell of a lot more problem dealing with Egos which at Brighton has been less of a problem.
  11. 7 maybe harsh but depends how parsimonious your scoring is. Joelinton imo was better than Bruno and definitely worthy of MotM
  12. I mean yes is a stretch but there are idiots out there
  13. I dunno, I appreciate it is maybe poorly implemented but as a measure to make sure clubs aren't spending beyond their means it still strikes me as sensible but it does seem bafflingly implemented. Nottingham Forest's spending looks very worrying to me as i think they are very probable to go back down and then can they afford that? Equally you look at the bonkers spending of Chelsea and you think are they really earning enough to offset that? (The answer is yes by all accounts but it still looks baffling). This is all aggravated by clubs taking full advantage of the Covid rules that were there for good reason and yet some clearly taken the piss with it. We are hamstrung by Ashley's total uninterest in developing our income. We will fix this and there will be a lot of low hanging fruit for the new regime to get the income up so our spending power will progress. The other problem is the Bruce years led to us having a squad with very few saleable assets to raise funds. Of the players we would be willing to sell we could maybe get £15m for Miggy max? This is a situation of the clubs making even if it's not the present owners own fault. Unfortunately though FFP is not about making the top of the league more fair, and never will be while the clubs have voting power. If you were serious about that you would look at wage caps seriously.

    Lee Charnley

In defense of Charnley is that he was only following orders, the problem with Charnley is that he was only following orders
  15. You can't have it both ways you can either stop play everytime a ball brushes a hand no matter how accidentely (and you get situation with players holding arms behind backs etc) or you try and have the refs decide if it was accidental or not which will often be common sense but also often end up in very bad calls. The latter probably results in both more sensible less pedantic refereeing and also in more disputes so it's always a bit of a tradeoff.
  16. I think I have seen him fronting long running dutch post punk outfit The Ex
  17. Any indication of what pissed off the wolves manager so much?
  18. They are good but also blunter than us so if our defense holds its form can see this as either a 0-0 or a win
  19. just put this shit in twitter nonsense thread, can we have actually decent links from proper outlets here
