We did actually recover and recovered really well. Nervy against Brentford at home but then saw off Arsenal, Chelsea and Man U at home, playing the latter two off the pitch. The 1-0 at home to Man U was one of the best displays of the season, and it got us up to fifth. All this whilst playing some juggernaut CL matches with the same XI and not a bench to call upon. Pope's injury was the tipping point - the squad just was completely spent over Christmas.
  2. He would 100% have had targets. It’s whether the manager wants them, and that’s been the issue this entire window imo. We all saw Eddie’s interview, it seemed pretty clear he was implying the players we bring in he’d have to agree too, and he got his wish as we went for Guehi. It looks like there’s been no real plan after Olise and Tosin didn’t happen, which is a crazy thought considering how important this window was.

    Harvey Barnes

I don’t understand the continued resistance towards him by some. Nearly every game he’s played for us he’s been involved in goals. Even when he’s poor he is a constant threat as his only thought is to attack through goals or assists, the sort of player we’ve lacked for ages. Has solid technique to go alongside his end product. Plenty to work on of course but we look a better side when he’s in it.
  4. Taking too many touches and refusing to play the simple pass.
  5. The absolute nerve when we were universally laughed at when we signed him. ‘only joined for the money’ etc.
  6. Came for rumours… instead got in depth cherry picking of the biggest shit holes in England. You take what you can at this point.
  7. It’s pretty mad mind how theyve won two cups in their current guise. They’re absolutely honking. Not helped how once routine wins are now greeted with bizarre euphoria, can probably blame their plastic online support for that, aswell as the usual suspects doing punditry.

full 90 mins… possibly. He definitely appeared before then as a sub.

That screamer against West Ham Jenas scored does bring back good memories, like. Seem to remember his bossing the mackems in the 0-1 at their place too.

Totally agree. Hence the emphasis on big move. He is however player who just reminds me of our slow demise. Take your pick - losing to Belgrade on pens, Souness replacing Bobby, losing to Sporting Lisbon, Chelsea’s takeover. All contributed.

I haven't listened to Bellamy lately, if he is fair enough. There was a point where he didn't have a good word to say about Newcastle, or the fans.

Out of those you mention, I have a bit of time for Dyer, although he infuriated me when he played. The rest, completely agree. Thing with Jenas he blamed us for his development but he got his 'big move' eventually and his career still didn't amount to much. Since those comments he's been about 50/50 with us. Praises us sometimes but gets his digs in when he can.

    Rafa Benítez

There wasn’t a chance he’d have been allowed to talk about us on the overlap. The whole thing is sky 6 propaganda. If Rafa mentions Newcastle he invariably waxes lyrical about the fans and the potential of the club - imagine Keane during such converse, or any of the others for that matter. Carragher says he likes us but he’s desperate for our revival to come to a halt. See his ludicrous comments regarding a ban on us signing a Tonali replacement.
  14. Clear pen for me. Touch on the ball yes but the other leg is wiping the West Ham player out in the process.

Not tweeting that causes more speculation. Which I doubt either club would want.
  16. 100%. I think Eddie is an exceptional manager but Newcastle are moving into a serious phase of development now and that will see fundamental changes. We have to start operating like our rivals. Eddie can't have full control over everything, and he can't have Staveley protecting him all the time. Like if Eales or Mitchell have expressed an interest in selling Wilson or Almiron but he's against it, then stuff like that will do him or the club no favours. Without being undermined - there's a bigger picture here for the club.
  17. Well not every fan clearly, but plenty were very unhappy at Minteh leaving - even at what we got. I'm not fussed either way on Bowen fwiw, just trying to say on the differences on why players are signed. You aren't buying Bowen for accounting, his value is what he brings to the pitch.
  18. I get he'd cost a lot with his age and our psr issues but he'd be an excellent signing even so. Another confusing example of the paradoxical nature of our fans. Uproar when an unproven youngster is sold for profit, then not happy with proven quality like Bowen because we can't sell him for profit. It's not a case of make your mind up, some players we sign will be signed to be sold, other's in the Bowen ilk anything but.
  19. Caulkin did say there was relief mind, which suggests they were a bit worried running up to Sunday.
  20. My opinion on which fanbase has the biggest set of internet arseholes continues to change on a weekly basis. Undoubtedly Man Utd at present.

PIF have invested over 400m on the squad and are transforming the club from top to bottom. How can anyone suggest they are being passive? Given the absolute state of the club when they took over and the rules that have been bent in every direction to hinder us, it's remarkable how quickly we've grown. I would agree that we could have seen additional sponsorship sooner, but surely it won't be long. The Minteh sale does seem to made a lot of people lose thier minds.

Gordon you take the points hit for…. be staggered if we even contemplated that.
