Just remembered this

My sentiments exactly.

I can definitely see the concerns there, especially given the debacles that have occurred in the French national team of late, but I think you can look at it the other way round also. If memory serves, it was mostly the older french players who made such a complete shitfest out of their last two tournaments, so we could be seeing a scenario where this new generation of players in their early-mid twenties, cabs, hba, debs, mbiwa gels and becomes a powerhouse that just happens to belong to our club. I guess what I am getting at is it could be a big positive or a big negative, but I kind of like the idea of having a group of young hungry players who are ready to make their mark on the international stage as well as at our club, and who will be playing together for both. Seems like it could make for good chemistry and the hopeless optimist in me sees NUFC poised to capitalize on a bit of a french golden age (or at least revival) over the next 5-6 years or so. A ton of big "ifs" I know, but I just can't bring myself to see the acquisition of debuschy and mbiwa as a negative, and if they are all playing together in the national side it makes me think we have a better chance of holding on to HBA over the next few years, as he'll be well settled in with his mates here.

It doesn't sound terrible to have half the french national team at age 22-28. As long as they uphold the high standard set forth by recent french national teams. I don't know what to think any more.

76 pace thats what I want to know
-
wowwww that is an epic rant.
-
Unless they decide to sleep in
-
Yeah, but can he play left back?
-
It's always a debate this season... do I want to get up at 7am to watch the match (its already 1am and I won't be sleeping any time soon) or sleep through it and check the score (which will be 0-0) later...
-
Calling it now - no further signings. "Having Ben Arfa back is like a new signing"
-
Two more left backs.

Same. I'm at the point now where it's like "why the fuck did I choose Newcastle?" Almost wishing I was a complete douchebag so I could support a team that wins games. (Key word is almost). I will tell you what drives me fucking crazy, how we basically intentionally drop out of the cups every year "to focus on the premier league" where we inevitably finish mid-low table anyway. At this point I'd almost (again, not really) be up for a Portsmouth win the cup and go down type season for fucks sake. If we don't play a real side for the Europa knock out stages I will be righteously pissed off.

Empty seats and barbed wire, a definite improvement over Sports Direct 50% Off Trainers Arena

I don't envy whoever will have to sift through the 'questions'. Definitely a job for the intern
-
Same here. World class keeper in my opinion. Not too sure about his goofy 1990's haircut though, but he is dutch so I have to cut him some slack
-
Where the fuck is the center back?
-
That was my initial thought too... but on some reflection, perch does a hell of a lot better job passing than Tiote does, Cheick drives me mental constantly giving the ball away cheaply with shit passes. Still not sure I'm buying it, mind.

The one bright side: I'm liking the look of Debs so far, and Santon has been quite good as usual (I'm almost ready to play him at wing forward). It's starting to look possible that we might have a strong back-four in the near future now
-
If this is true.... we are fucked.
-
I'd just like to see us win a fucking trophy before I die, and we've got a way better shot at the FA Cup than we do at winning the league title any time soon.
-
Waking up at 7am for this. We'll go ahead and then lose 2-1 or 3-1, just to make it extra painful for us.
-
Good enough for me at this point.
-
So this scottish dude at my work bet me two bucks that QPR would win tomorrow. If I lose money to that northern prick because we can't scrape a draw against QPR at home... Well I won't do anything, but I will be mighty upset about it.
-
Surprised so many people are okay with selling the only player who's scoring any goals for us. I think the next top scorer is Ben Arfa with 3. I understand the reasoning to letting him go, but I am just not confident that Cisse or anyone we might bring in ( wait a second, what am I thinking, bringing players in, that's a good one) will be able to pick up the slack. And we're already so abysmal... The thought of letting our only goalscorer go when we have no midfield and no defense just plain terrifies me. Personally I would much rather see some defensive players come in.

hahaha, that would explain a lot actually. I'm just a bit tired of seeing 4-3-3 being posited as the magical answer all the time. We lined up 4-3-3 last time out and guess what, we still couldn't string two fucking passes together.
