The Championship is Dummett's level, it says a lot about how we've been run that he's featured so heavily in the Premier League for us. He's very average, but he wasn't our biggest problem in the team. Happy to watch him next year, but he needs replacing.

Newcastle United transfer rumours in the press

It'll be interesting to see which players don't go on the plane to Ireland today. -
Great news, a good move for us and a great move for him at this stage of his career. Wish him all of the best, some great memories thanks to Papiss during one of our worst periods.

Imagine this little tart playing away at Burton on a Tuesday night Would love him to come good like, but cant help think that he is a dud.

Another suitable back-up player to Mbemba and Lascelles, he played 24 times for Hull last season and looked steady. -
Better going forward than he is at defending. In a Fat Sam team where he wont be allowed to go forward, it wont pan out very well Didn't he used to give away some daft penos?

What a weird and absolutely pointless comparison How? People (including me) mocked Leicester that both Huth and Morgan weren't good enough to keep them in the Premier League. Turns out they were good enough to win it. -

Leicester have just won the Premier League with a CB pairing of Huth and Morgan. Hanley will be more than adequate as a defender in the Championship -

Think he'd be a decent back-up option in the Championship personally. Still expect us to bring another defender in too, after these two come in. -
Matt Ritchie (now playing for Portsmouth)
Figures 1-0 Football replied to Fenham Mag's topic in Football
We sold Townsend and replaced him with Ritchie for a lower fee. Other than that we've spent similar money to other Championship clubs. Plus the fact we can afford to spend anyway, due to our balance sheet that we've protected for 8 years. -
Mitro. Imagine him trying to give the team a quick chat to get them up for a big game Love the bloke, he can have anything, I'd give him my girlfriend if he wanted her. Other than him, Lascelles. Maybe De Jong if he sticks around and is expected to feature.

I'd forgotten about Haidara Yeah, CB needs to be the priority for our next defensive signing. At least we have two good ones already. Currently our starting CM will be Shelvey & Colback To be fair, our entire squad is already good enough to win the Championship at an easy canter. Shelvey & Colback would have absolutely no issue in that league. I think people forget that the Championship team of the year last season consisted of a midfield of Barry Bannan, Joey Barton, Alan Judge & Adam Clayton. A midfield of George Boyd, Joey Barton, Dean Marney & Scott Arfield won the league last season All of these signings are incredible, we're finally getting strength and depth into the team. We could end up playing next season with a better squad than we had last season.

No, if anything I think it makes it harder for us to rebuild with the gap between the Premier League & Championship widening every season.

Aye, in a world where someone can demand £30m for Troy Deeney, you may as well just rip up the protocol for pricing footballers. The fees in todays market are daft, we wouldn't look out of place demanding £25m-£30m for Gini or Sissoko. Some fool would pay it too. -
Sadly prolonged his stay with the club, which resulted in his performance and attitude souring. Was very good for us at times, which people often forget. Will not be missed and should have been shifted about 3 years ago. I look forward to seeing who his replacement is, although I'd be happy with a back-up player as I have every confidence in Lascelles and Mbemba next season.
-
He had a very good and short stay with us. He'll be remembered fondly and deserves to do well. It's a shame that it was Palace who came in for him, although I'll look forward to watching him play full back next season under Pardew.

Under Roy in tournament football: Played 11, won 3. Barely played a team of any decent calibre either.

It's just like watching another Newcastle.

It is perhaps telling that Roy Hodgson is reading from a pre-prepared statement. -

It's not. Iceland are a very good side with results to back it up. It's absolute arrogance to dismiss them based on the fact they used to be nothing. Their captain has just been relegated from the Championship They are not a good side at all man. -

Thought he and Rooney were probably the only players who looked decent in the first half for us personally.
