  1. In a strange old world six degrees of separation kinda thingy: "Tobin is not an indigenous Irish name, but the family can be regarded as having become completely hibernicized. Its Irish form, Toibn, is a gaelicized version of the Norman 'St Aubyn.' Another interpretation is that the name was first called de St. Aubyn and the original bearers were from Aubyn, in Brittany, France." We now just need to sell him to Bohemians (unless there's a St Aubyn FC on Jersey??) and all will be right with the world. Need Minhisa to do some more prophetizing malarkey: "when the moon shines low on the Liffey and Tobin's lass swallows me baguette, wor Flor will return whence he came, and the Toon will win something yet."
  2. Damn! Why don't people tell you these things before you get hooked/used to the place...
  3. The bit which jars most, is the manner in which it was done. But also, if true, a £14k redundancy package seems disrespectful given the money involved in premiership football. Saying, that he was probably paid peanuts (relatively speaking) also. Hate it when clubs/employers, especially ones which promote a 'one big family' vibe don't reciprocate the loyalty and commitment shown to them, or even it seems treat people with basic human decency. Hope some players chip in an evening's entertainment money each, which could amount to a life changing about of money for the man. http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-3709468/Tony-Carr-receive-14-000-redundancy-payment-West-Ham-despite-43-years-service-earning-club-50m-profit.html http://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/football/news/west-ham-legend-tony-carr-8506054 West Ham academy legend Tony Carr has earned nearly £1/2million in an ambassadorial role for the club over the past two years. The highly-respected 65-year-old has also picked up over £1.6million since 2005 and has a lucrative pension scheme provided by the club. The Hammers have been left reeling by the explosion of anger which followed news that they have made Carr redundant after 43 years. ...that's a lot of jellied eels. Suddenly feeling less sorry for the cheeky-chappie.
  4. I used to sit there at one point, and can confirm that a couple of people's patter stunk.
  5. Can you remember his run through on goal last game of the season, against West Ham, 2014-15??

  7. I've often thought similar, like someone's being taught to use the internet for the very first time... "So if I start a new 'thread' it gets published straightaway and the whole world can see it and discuss it?" "Yeah, shall we do a test one? Just type the first thing that pops into your head" "Ok, ermmm.....'Has anyone ever farted and followed through on a bus" "Great, try another" "Lets see.....'Whats everyone's favourite smell? Marker pens for me like" "Excellent. One more?" "Recommend me an umbrella stand'. I'm getting the hang of this" "Good job son.....hang on these have all gone live. And the fart one is up to 9 pages...."
  8. I can't wait to see Dropout remain convinced Mbemba was born in 1990. Just like Cabella's towering height. Without being able to remember why (sad but true), and I can't be arsed to get into detective mode, I think he was born in 1990 also.
  9. Can't resist. Going to head-up home & take the young un too; he's only been once (Spurs, last game). Hoping talismanic effect continues!
  10. Italics= don't think they'll feature/loanees? Bold =new Underline = surely offski Goalkeepers: Tim Krul Rob Elliot Karl Darlow Freddie Woodman Matz Sels 4 keepers, will we sell one? Defenders: Paul Dummett Jamaal Lascelles Chancel Mbemba Massadio Haïdara Daryl Janmaat? Kevin Mbabu Jesús Gámez Jamie Sterry Grant Hanley 9 defenders. Enough? Think we could do with another full back. Midfielders: Jack Colback Moussa Sissoko Vurnon Anita Siem de Jong Jonjo Shelvey Rolando Aarons Florian Thauvin Henri Saivet Cheick Tioté Matt Ritchie Remy Cabella Haris Vučkić Sammy Ameobi Isaac Hayden 8 midfielders: 4 of a more defensive ilk, two wingers, plus Shelvey and de Jong. We'll need 1 or 2 capable of making things happen. Forwards: Yoan Gouffran Ayoze Pérez Emmanuel Rivière Adam Armstrong Aleksandar Mitrović Dwight Gayle Hayley, Mitro, Ayoze and Gouff... We need a striker. Seems strange with six new arrivals, but looking at who is likely to be available to play, I think we need another 3 or 4 - depending what's out there that we can get. I also think net spend will end up being, if not minimal then very reasonable.
  11. Step-up on to the stage that man, join the golden thread of visionaries and prophets From Nostradamus to Minhosa. The French Revolution, The Great Fire of London, the rise of Hitler, The Atomic Bomb, Don Rafa de la Benitez saves the toon (plus a few less significant world events). Which six numbers do you fancy for the weekend mate??
  12. Prejudice: leads to all kinds of mental gymnastics; it's a killer. Quite literally sometimes.
  13. Errrr, not the most attentive audience. Maybe he could do a song? "How do you do young Willie McBride...etc" but instead of calling it Greenfields of France, call it 'The Greener Grass of the Champions League'? Lad's got so much talent, sure he would carry it off; could be right up there with Diamond Lights (Hoddle and Waddle, Classico!)
  14. true value times about 5? Extracting the Michael or Abstracting the Ashley?
  15. Huddersfield just got a 0-0 in Werder Bremen.
  16. Altamullan

    Strongest Eleven

Wouldn't be surprised if Hanley is a starter and possibly Club Captain.
  17. Altamullan

    Jesús Gámez

Even if he performs poorly/dies a death early season, expecting him to pick-up/come back to life around April 16th
  18. Coming up, on a plate, mate! All being well... "...your defence is terrified..."
  19. how so? the discussion is that having 2 CM's that can compete physically and athletically with a decent level of competence technically and passing-wise would be more than enough presuming the rest of the team has good movement, but the lad is saying we need creative CM's i didn't watch every leicester game last year but what i did see was kante and drinkwater out running the opposition, winning the ball really well and distributing it effectively to players in a system that had good off the ball movement in a well-drilled system how is that ridiculous? David McCreery once of these parts, described his CM job as to win the ball and give it to someone else. The someone elses did the creating. Seemed to work well.
  20. Yep. That was tough to stomach and wholly unnecessary (despite personal fallout). I did like the Cantona-Cole joke though: Why does Cantona wear his collar up? To stop his neck getting dirty from carrying Cole(coal).
  21. Mossad and SS! No wonder this lad looks lost at time, that is an extreme internal conflict...
  22. I can see a fashion thread appearing. Do you go for the loafer? Or mince in the mâché?
  23. I was comparing a couple of strikers in their very early twenties, not one who we know went on to break records vs one with an unknown future. Also it is obvious/goes without saying (even though, for the hard of thinking, I did say it) they have different styles. Point was strikers miss and fans moan. Even the best miss. If you've Beardsley, Sellars, & Lee et al lining up multiple chances your also going to score. Mitro could get a good run of confidence building Championship goals ( just like the young Andy) which sets his career off on a similar trajectory.
