Foreign supporter. I was a 15-year-old when the FCB took over. The Newcastle I grew up with in childhood were the Keegan and Bobby Robson teams; the last good times the club’s ever had. The Newcastle I grew up with has taken away from me in 2007. In it’s place came a failure prone, unambitious, club that wasn’t even a shell of its former self. I stuck with the club all through my teens and adult year to date. I had people question my dedication in the bad years, why I stuck them through failure. Those people don’t understand what makes Newcastle such a special club. Today, it feels like the Newcastle I grew up with is coming home. It’s like if you dearly loved someone that left you, like a son gone to a long-term war, and you never thought they’d return; only to randomly see them return to your doorstep again 14 years later. They never sent any letters, you never got any contact from them, you’ve pretty much accepted they’re dead for years now. But they’re not, they’re still alive, and now they’re back. Such an indescribable joy.

I’m still on disbelief. It feels like I am in a football-driven dream, and I’ll wake up in a second and be like: “aww, it was just a dream”. I checked Skysports news at 5:30 before I left for home, there it was confirmed. I was the only one left in the office, and I took full opportunity to have a song and dance. I didn’t leave until six out of sheer delight and shock that it’s actually happened.

I refused to get carried away and excited until the hour they put pen to paper, and the deal is concluded. So right now I am having a hawkeye ‘don’t give me hope’ moment.

The old cliche: good teams find ways to win even when playing badly. Well, the opposite is true for us today. The bad teams find ways not to win even when they’ve had so much go their way. Watford did everything in their power to give us at least a two-goal head start at HT. Murphy at the end, too. That’s why we’re going down.
-
We’re going down. As bad as rhe bottom half of the leagues is; I don’t see three teams worse than ours. A long-term injury to ASM or Wilson and we might as well drop down now. At least we’ve some minor hope while we’ve those fit and playing. As further kick in the sack, Sunderland will be going up to meet us in the same league again.

I can forgive Brentford and their fans for going a bit OTT tonight. It’s their first top flight game in over half a century, first game with max fans at a new ground, and they’ve bossed it against a big club. Arsenal were awful, but you can’t take anything anyway from Brentford.

Nothing has ever summed up the lack of ambition this club has better than that 'top of our league' quote. Whoa.

Can we all please agree a rule to ban Twitter ITKs now and condemn them to he braindead thread? They’ve constantly proven to be full of shite.

Shearer is the GOAT but he was the world record transfer at the time. Today that 15 million would be €223 million.
-
Tim Krul must be in with a shout. Virtually cost nothing. Yohan Cabaye deserves a mention given how key he was for us. Four million was a steal. Ben Arfa was only 5 million, too. Even Saint Maximin could be considered. Under today’s standard, he’s a steal. I am going to go with Ben Arfa out of bias personal memories of loving him playing for us.

I can only imagine the meltdown on there if it were to go through. They’ll need a lifetime supply of Kleenex each for all the salty tears.
-
Michael Owen will always stick out for me. The fact he was injured so much, and he deliberately gave fuck all effort in our most desperate hours. All because he was afraid of an injury costing him his next move. The fucker was on 100k a week and didn’t even try for us in the relegation fight our of pure selfishness. Joelinton is shite, but at least he puts some effort in. There’s no malice to his shiteness.

Steve Harper Forever a poor man’s Shay Given. I still remember the dead look of regret in his face when he signed for Sunderland.

UEFA Euro 2020 Final: England 1 - 1 Italy (Italy win 3-2 on pens)

You see those kind of ‘tactical fouls’ regularly. Maybe not as extreme as pulling them by the collar. By the letter of the law, the referee has done the right thing. Whether you agree with the LOTG or not, and think that it should be considered serious foul play is up to you. Jorginho’s tackle is much more of a red card. Under today’s standards many referees would consider it serious foul play. He was a lucky boy, and I do believe the fact he rolled around afterwards had a say. It maybe made the referee think it wasn’t as bad because both players seemingly got hurt at first. Then VAR comes into the debate and whether it’s a clear and obvious error, etc. I am gutted for all you natural Geordies on here. A decisive penalty shoot out in a match like that is never something I want to have a stake in; it is the most heartbreaking way to lose. The fact that is adds to the long list of nearly moments even more gutting. However, there is much hope for the future. I believe we should start getting us to England going far in competitions from now on, possibly even winning one eventually. The youth teams have done well recently and we’re starting to see the first signs of it transitioning to the senior team. I hope by now the feelings have reconciled and you feel more hope than devastation. -
Brilliant. That’s what happens when you’re proper determined and refuse to give up despite set back after set back. So many lost finals, but they’re all history now. No more “He never won anything for his country” nonsense. Great to see.

Tomorrow night is the night. I bet it feels like Christmas Eve as kid for a lot of you. Personally, I believe the stars have alligned for England. Some things are meant to be. England winning their first euros 1966 world cup style at Wembley is just meant to be. Enjoy it, lads. Milk it, let it all sink in. Do spare a thought for unlucky cunts like me who live in a nation that ain't got a hope of glory and support Newcastle, too. Unless the takeover happens we’ll never get a night like tomorrow. England 2-1 Italy. -
I personally don’t get the non-English cheering England to lose. I am non-Englsih, but couldn’t care what way Sunday goes. If England do win, I can at least be happy for my fellow Newcastle fans who are English. The biggest excuse is hear is ‘oh the English are arrogant, and we’ll never hear the end of them winning it’. Even if it’s true that the English Media won’t stop gloating; you can choose to avoid English Media. I really don’t get it. It seems a bit sad.

I haven’t a clue what level/grading system they use in England, but where I am it’d be equal to being able to do maybe just below National League North/South. So I am currently at the upper tier of the amateur game, lower tier of semi-pro. As we all know, though, the laws of the game are the same at every level. Different referees have even got different opinions/interpretations, too. Another ref might come along and disagree with me. There is a case to give a penalty, but the way the players gone down and the amount of contact leaves me unconvinced.
-
Looking at it as a neutral and as a ref myself; I believe it is 100% a soft penalty. Sterling was 100% looking for it, and he was already on his way down before any slight contact. However, you really can’t begrude England the win. It was 100% deserved. Denmark didn’t have the gas in the tank to give them a game for more than 60 minutes. Sunday is going to be an interesting day. If nothing else, I would be happy for all you natural geordies.

Well, Messi was an obvious exaggeration by me, but having missed 15 games he still finished as the league’ top assit provider last year. If he stays fit and isn’t frozen out of the team again; he could be the difference between either making the play offs or not. Maybe more depending on what or players they do end up signing. I was hoping he wouldn’t sign.
-
Signing McGeady on for another year is huge for them. He may be 36 next year, but that league is still so bad, that he plays like Messi in it.
