Had we been able to keep hold of Anderson, he still wouldn’t of been starting for us. He’d obviously significantly improve the squad depth of the midfield, but at least this season anyway, that wouldn’t have made a huge difference. Might be different be a bit different with European games next season like.

They’d get rid of Alisson before they got rid of him. If Alisson is still there next season it could possibly take a little while before Marma gets in, but he’ll be there soon enough and become the No.1 for years to come. Especially given how injury prone Alisson is these days.

We signed Tonali because we made the CL two seasons ago. Would we have won the league cup without him? Debatable. Whilst you’re right in that in the short-term, the ECL offers the quickest route to another trophy, it doesn’t boost our long term prospects for continually winning trophies the way CL does.
