Yes, that’s a point, if they stopped it, folk would just renew without informing the club of the death, and it would probably only come to light through the registered age reaching a point where it should flag something. Although I think eventually we’ll probably get some kind of entry technology that you can’t really get round, be it facial recognition, fingerprint, or whatever.

I’d be interested to gauge opinions on that? Is it as simple as current ST holders think it should continue, and non-ST holders (who want one) think it shouldn’t?

That’s one that massively splits opinion. I believe @AyeDubbleYoo (apologies if it wasn’t you) once likened it to having the effect of a hereditary peerage 🤣

Irrespective of the legal aspect, it would be PR suicide to do that mid-season. The negative press coverage would be astronomical, and nowhere near the hassle. But like I say, I wouldn’t necessarily rule out them changing it from the start of a future season.

They’d have to change the T&C’s of the cup scheme if they wanted to do that. Not saying they can’t/won’t do that going forward (although feels unlikely to me) but a scenario like @bobbydazzla outlined can’t really happen at present as they’d be breaching what they set out in the current iteration of the cup scheme.

I know that in the discussions the FAB has been having with the club around the introduction of a ST waiting list, one of the things that has been mooted is eligibility criteria around previous membership history. I’m absolutely not saying anything has been agreed or even formally proposed, but it has been discussed. It’s obviously up to every individual to decide whether the membership scheme is it worth it for them personally, but if you’re in a position where £40-£50 doesn’t make that much difference to you, and you’re thinking about wrapping it in more out of principle than anything else, it’s something to consider.

So the A list is basically all your main senior players (up to a max of 25 I think). The B list is basically all your players born from 2004 onwards, but they have to have been at the club for at least two years. So for us, Miley doesn’t need to go on the A list and take up one of the spaces, cos he’s still young enough for the B list.

You have to have been at the club two years to go on the B list.

Obviously that will be the standard response that goes out to everyone on this particular subject. However, if they get enough heat about it, whilst you may not personally get anything in way of a decent response, it might prompt/force them into looking at the whole thing going forward.

Said this in the mackem ticket thread, but for the highest profile games, the general sale feels like it’s becoming a waste of time. Maybe they might be better off just going ballot only for these games? I’m speaking as a ST holder rather than a member like, so not really my place to say, but feels like general sales for the likes of the mackems and Barca (have those two ever been put together in the same sentence…) just end up causing mass frustration, versus very little positive outcomes?

Aye, and they get wiped after this game, so might be sensible (although not sure how practical) to let them miss this.
