  1. I was suggesting watching a full match on telly not voyaging the Atlantic.
  2. No offence meant, but i don’t understand why people bother doing these half-arsed scouting missions on Youtube. I’m sure the MLS is shown on Sky these days and matches are pretty accessable for people who don’t have it. Surely the best way to judge the player is by actually watching him play a couple of games of football? Or is that just crazy talk these days?
  3. Fortunately, absolutely no one values that sycopantic gobshite’s opinion. What an awful bloke.
  4. He’s basically another victim of way Ashley runs the club. He’d be a useful option from the bench or to use in certain games, but i think he suffers because we rely on him to play a role that he’s not quite suited to possibly isn’t ever going to be good enough to play. He’s definitely frustrating but i did enjoy watching him last night. From the very start of the game his movement was class and he kept finding space in the final third. There were also some nice, sharp bits of link-up play with Rondon and Kenedy that got us up the pitch. He played a big part for me. He’ll probably have me pulling my hair out again on saturday
  5. I thought he had a really good game last night, it’s a shame the only incident from the game that people are talking about is that one.
  6. Good performance last night. I thought we were reasonably comfortable for most of it and thoroughly deserved the 3 points. Good performances from those already mentioned by others but i do think Perez was a bit of an unsung hero. He got himself into really good positions, linked play up, and played some clever passes that caused Burnley a lot of problems. This is the sort of form we need him in as we look a much better side when he’s at his most effective.
  7. Dubravka for me. He’s a guaranteed starter, arguably our best player, and is a clear leader on the pitch.
  8. Wasn’t Mbabu supposed to partying in his flat in Jesmond all the time? I’m sure i read something from a local journalist that suggested something like that. Probably not much of an issue if he was fit all the time but he had a poor injury record. Rafa probably thought he was taking the piss.
  9. #26 Collimore in the 4-3 Was about to suggest this one...no recollection of it as I was a toddler at the time, but my dad got a bollocking that night, mam had just got my off to sleep when Collymore scored that goal and me dad woke me up going metal and laughing at the Mags, que sleepless nights all round! (Aye, cool story bro and all that) Wow! What a weird family. As if you would even bother telling your bairn that? Imagine how many of the noncy little mutants were conveived that night? It’s a creepy thought.
  10. Speaking as someone who went to school in Gateshead all through the 80s when we were mostly utter shit, i’d say the teams people supported were roughly something like this - Newcastle - 80% Sunderland - 5% Liverpool/Man Utd - 10% Other - 5% As far as i’ve known, Gateshead has always been mostly black and white. Even the Sunderland fans from Gateshead hate being referred to as “mackems”. You can’t blame them like.
  11. It’s still very possible we’ll have some disappointing results between now and the Wolves game i suppose. What shit way to be thinking though!
  12. If you don't want to go , don't go, don't watch it on sky and go and find another hobby, but respect the fact that thousands of other people do want to go and enjoy going. Would you not enjoy going more if we won matches more often due to having a competitive team? Or for you is it simply about turning up, and the quality of the product on display or the results we get are completely irrelevant to you? Because that's the real question here. People are being asked to sacrifice turning up for one game in order to drive change that will give us the investment we need, which Rafa needs, to make this squad competitive. That in turn will make the match-going experience much better. I remember the Keegan days and the Robson days, and the matchgoing experience was light-years ahead of what it is now for so many reasons. I want that back, or something as close as I can get, and if that meant watching a game from the pub one week instead of from the stands, I fail to see how that could be considered too much of a sacrifice to make in an attempt to make that change. But each to their own, of course, if the quality of the experience is to you completely irrelevant and the only thing that matters is being there, then that's your call. These are the people that keep all of the shit Cafes and Takeaways open. It uses the cheapest ingredients, the food is always swimming in grease and not cooked right, it hasn’t had a refurb for 20 years, and they store the meat on the floor in a filthy back room. But no fucker will tell me to stop me from going cos it’s just what i do!
  13. For me, Alli is a good player but pretty limited. He’s got decent technical ability and makes good runs from deep but he’s nowhere near as effective for England because we don’t have an Eriksen to pick him out. I’d much rather someone like Lingard started who’s more mobile and can find pockets or space better, Ross Barkley even. As for converting him to a DM, i don’t see many attributes in him to be a good player there.
  14. Absolutely. If you were a young player you would be insane to put your career and future in the hands of a football club owned by Mike Ashley when there were better offers on the table.
  15. I used to sit in front of some fuck-nut who loved doing this. He also hated Ben Arfa and used to to scream at him to “pass the fuckin baal yi daft cunt” even when it was clear no one apart from him wanted it.
  16. Just had a quick read of RTG and it's funny as f*** how upset they get when we win. I've read things like "they'll think they're going to get into the Champions League now" and "Lucky t***s as usual". It's amazing how much we actually effect their lives. When we lose it's celebration time for them, no matter what their own result is. When we win though they just can't seem to handle it at all and they start coming out with all the usual anti NUFC cliches. Proper ruined their weekend today. Are they doing that thing where if we win it's all down to ashley and we're a bunch of ingrates for not praising him?? It's peak sewpa dewpa mackem bantz!! Aye i’ve noticed a lot of that knuckle-headed logic recently. They’ll willingly ignore the blatantly obvious as long as they can have a dig at Newcastle fans.
  17. Aye, i’m happy to see them embarrassed like that. I can’t quite work out the thinking behind it, apart from being proper sad.
  18. Until he gives a horrendous decision one way or the other and opens up the can up even further. He’s a pretty poor ref, there’s a fair old chance it will happen.
  19. The question that gets asked about any decent CB who can kick a football. He’d make a fantastic No.10 IMO
  20. From what i remember about his time at Liverpool, he did sign some shit (like every manager) but the majority of his big signings were a success. That’s what you should be judged on.
  21. This was my opinion until i saw some stats the other day. I think it said he averaged a goal or an assist every 109 minutes in competitive games for England. So although he was a let-down in the tournaments bar his first one, he probably did more than anyone else to get us there i think first place. That still probably doesn’t warrant all this carry on but i thought it was worth keeping in mind since it looks like it’s happening anyway.
  22. I’ve thought for a while that he’s looks too 1-footed to play on the wing. He gets the ball on the left and likes to shift the ball inside but then doesn’t have the right foot to do anything with it, he’s not a particularly good crosser either so i reckon it’d be worth trying him in the centre.
  23. Brazil is clueless and irritating so that story doesn’t surprise me at all. When a certain game is the topic of conversation on his show he quite often admits that he didn’t see the game (you’d think that would be part of his job?) but still gives his opinion on it anyway. I also can’t stand his constant bragging about his holidays, money, and the perks of his job, like if he’s broadcasting from Sydney while The Ashes is on or something. He’s such a twat.
