I was all for him coming in as No 2 or even challenging Dubravka this season but tbh he's looked a million miles from being a PL quality keeper. Yes he's still young but Given had played two full seasons for us at the same age.

Despite his shitty attitude I'd have Gayle starting ahead of Linton every single game. The most tragic thing is we gave him an extended contract in the vain hope of getting a transfer fee for him rather than him fucking off on a free, which we will do in three years time anyway with him having scored maybe 10 more goals in total.

To a degree yes, but bar a couple of small purple patches towards the end of the seasons he's been here he's hardly pulled up any trees. He is what he is, a mid table midfielder.

Him not being in the team will make zero difference to the result. Vastly overated in my opinion, regardless of who the manager is and where he is played.

Both Fraser and Hendrick have been absolutely terrible free signings. Ashley must have the proverbial face of the bulldog licking piss off a thistle at how they've turned out and long may it continue.

Even if that was true, how much profit could they have expected to make on him? Even if he got 15-20 goals a season (lol) for 2-3 years I doubt we'd be looking at a profit of more than £20m or so. As others have since said it could have been some sort of tax dodge but the whole thing stinks like an obese womans fanny after a night out in Sunderland.

I'm sure £40m changed hands, but who got what will never be known. After Ashley, agents and others got their cuts I doubt Hoffenheim saw more than £10m of it.
