We did look like a bad team IMO. Brighton let us have the ball and we just kept crossing against two centre backs great in the air and taking shit long shots with the occasional half chance that you're always going to get if you're allowed that much possession I think we looked capable of playing decent stuff and better than the opposition in most areas, but as the game wore on confidence really dwindled and attackers stopped showing for it & making decent runs. I think we've seen last season that these players are capable of far more than what we've seen so far. So given we're just 9 games in, I believe it will come and we will improve. I don't think the current performances are a true reflection of the quality the likes of Shelvey, Ritchie, Fernandez, Dubravka possess.

You say this every week. Why are you calling on people to do something you clearly aren't prepared to do yourself? "not advocating violence but someone needs to rinse these fuckers" - so what exactly are you alluding to? Because it sounds like you're saying they should be attacked? Some of our fans ffs. Complete morons.

Dominated the match but really failed to apply the necessary pressure towards the end of the game. Brighton remaining fairly comfortable. Don't like to read some of the hate for our players in here mind, not sure we should be blaming Perez when it's those upstairs who failed to bring in someone to challenge his position. All in all, we didn't look like a bad team today, just a one really struggling for confidence. It will come.

This. He mentioned a lot of names - Llambias, Wise, Ashley, Pardew, Charnley. I wish we got more of his thoughts on them. Don't think the lad possesses the mental acumen to turn it around. Aye, seemingly not, although I never like to write anyone off. But during the interview he displayed that throughout his career the same negative patterns repeated again & again (not showing up to training, apathy, crime) no matter what club he was at or situation he was in. Hasn't got long to turn it around either at 27.

Good interview I thought, enjoyed it. Interesting to hear some insight into the dressing room around the time of our first relegation & promotion campaign.

I always assume it's some sort of communication thing. Knowing what Rafa is like with intricate, seemingly minor details & instructions for his players, maybe he knows he can trust Dummett such is the player he is, and second in line is Manquillo simply due to his ability to communicate with him in greater detail? I don't know, just guessing.

Always remember him pulling off some bizarre reaction saves with his head too, from close-quarters headers. His ability to react and his agility set him apart for me. Another one that sticks in my memory is a ridiculous tip over the bar from a lovely shot by Kevin Phillips. Given was well off his line as well.

How's it daft? It's my opinion that he's a better all round goalkeeper than Given, as much as I love Given and he's probably still my all-time favourite NUFC player (I even got my hair cut like him when I was like 12/13 - as I thought his receding hairline was just his style ). I personally don't see the problem with comparing two players of the same position, with the utility of showing how much I rate Dubravka. Given's shot stopping was second-to-none at the time, but Dubravka has the whole package. Feel so confident with him in goal. Mainly because it's 9 months of playing well vs 12 years of being one of the very top goalkeepers in the league. Still a reasonable enough amount of time to make judgements & comparisons on attributes shown in their respective spans of time. Don't think it's daft.

His pass for our first was absolutely unreal. Played class I thought, him & Muto were a nightmare for Man Utd's defence and midfield. -
Surprised this hasn't been bumped. He was outstanding, the best goalkeeper we've had in my lifetime (& I'm a Shay Given fanboy) and alongside Shelvey our best player. The spine of Dubravka, Lascelles & Shelvey is what will keep us up this season if all 3 can play like they did today. Tremendous from the trio.

The tough fixtures list component to our poor start simply can't be reasonably or feasibly ignored imo. There is much you can criticise, however, we haven't been good enough pretty much in every area of the pitch, but those criticisms cannot be separated from the reality of the difficulty in teams faced. Other than 2 of them, they're all superior to us at present and we're yet to be dismantled by any of them imo. That's not playing down our obvious problems which are: lack of creativity, end product and general productivity with the ball. The players will know this. -
Thanks for confirming this.

Think this is it, really. Similar to how Juventus went for a simple new badge. I honestly don't think it's a cost-cutting thing, more keeping up with the world of design. Football clubs as big as Barcelona are brands (as much of an ugly word that is to tie to a football team) and it just happens that minimalism & reducing number of elements is where design finds itself at present. You see this same process happening in the corporate world, Mastercard, for example.

The more I watch it, the more it feels like they took the file of the current crest and misclicked on the layer with all the black overlays. (they also changed the stripes a bit) New one is a better badge tbf, much tidier design-wise & the colours are nicer, although they should have kept "FCB" in the middle.

Clark? Gayle? Over Lejeune? For me it goes Ritchie > Dubravka > Lejeune without doubt We wouldn't have even been in a position to sign Lejeune if it wasn't for Gayle's goals in the Championship. And Clark was vital at the back. Lejeune did well in the second half of last season and has a lot of potential but I wouldn't put his contribution above the likes of Diame and Kenedy. My question would be, would we be in the Premier League still without the partnership established by Lascelles & Lejeune last season? Flo was probably better than our captain for large periods, where as Clark was largely surplus and Gayle not good enough. Due to the higher level of the Premier League, I would deem Lejeune one of Rafa's top buys.
