  1. Except from describing/alluding to Kante as an attacking player and judging him on his attacking stats. Aye, proper well informed that. Clearly had never ever watched him. It's pretty poor, let's not not pretend. Not sure if he was playing further forward at that stage but I think I read that he did used to play further forward at one stage Tbf I did read a Guardian article about Kante with insight from his former team-mates at Caen who said he was box-to-box as they had a dedicated DM which allowed Kante to roam a little as he was clearly far more talented than the players around him (they say). Still though, the guy writing that article clearly hadn't watched him imo, it's sounds like someone who has looked at stats, international appearances and injury records and feigned knowledge. Probs accounts for a large portion of internet journalism/journalists mind.
  2. Some things don't change. At least we didn't write this article though: http://threeandin.com/ngolo-kante-could-be-the-worst-tottenham-signing-since-jason-dozzell/ Tbf with that Spurs one, the bloke writing it probably didn't write the heading and the article itself isn't that bad Except from describing/alluding to Kante as an attacking player and judging him on his attacking stats. Aye, proper well informed that. Clearly had never ever watched him. It's pretty poor, let's not pretend.
  3. I'd love Luiz at DM like. Probably never happen but it's nice to dream
  4. hopefully sets griezemann up for a hattrick Hey now Wouldn't worry Fugazi, Griezmann was wasteful last much tbh, looked really poor in an attacking sense for the most part. No chance he's getting a hattrick.
  5. We will as well, I reckon. Somewhere around the £50m mark, whilst breaking our transfer record. I just think jumping in here to pile on the misery every time another club is linked with a transfer north of like £15m is a pointless exercise. Regarding the left behind stuff, I just think if say 10 clubs are in similar situation to us in terms of transfers, then I genuinely can't see how we're being left behind.
  6. I'm not sure what position he'd even play for us anyway? We're fine in CM, we could do with support at No.10 but I actually prefer Perez there than Gini.
  7. Kante has to be in that team over Golovin for me, he hasn't put a foot wrong and France wouldn't be in the final without the solidity he brings to that defence imo. Other than that I pretty much agree.
  8. They haven't signed anyone from Lille for 20 million anything from what I can see. But of course if it means we can pour another glass of misery onto our situation let's pretend they have. You know, we're not the only club not spending big sums on players, I've looked at forums of other clubs and a lot of them are saying the "we're being left behind" stuff too. Everyone can't be being left behind, can they?
  9. He was really poor, but so were most others as well. We looked rushed and tense on the ball. Where as Croatia seemed to find space for extra touches in possession, we were constantly playing on the edge and couldn't gain or maintain any control. Poor really. We had no way out of beating their high press, because Alli and Lingard were way too high up the pitch leaving a risky run from one of the CBs or a ball into a crowded Henderson the only real alternatives. That sort of stuff is alright against poor opposition but as soon as Croatia clocked it (HT) we never adjusted. Yeah, agreed. Unfortunately in that situation you're looking to your manager to react. Southgate didn't - a few like-for-like subs and that's all she wrote. He seems a honest & intelligent enough guy to sit back and observe that when he's home and hopefully learn from it for future tournaments.
  10. That's why I like him so much too. It's very rare a player of his age & technical ability has the attitude and workrate/mentality to match. We're very lucky to have him here.

  12. Aye, into Germany I imagine.
  13. Tbf not that consistent as I'll admit to being wrong to a degree in terms of the Croatian player's comments. At least Lascelles was using the interview to constantly come back to us/his team & how we played, where as some of the Croatian comments were seemingly exclusively centred around talking about the opposition which I don't really like that much (unless they've been misquoted/taken out of context).
  14. Just checked the thread and it's you and IC having this exact same argument https://www.newcastle-online.org/forum/index.php?topic=97046.msg6651859#msg6651859
  15. Aye I raised that point a few pages back too. It's not to say it's necessarily right or the most polite, but it was being framed by a few as a nation problem in that "England players wouldn't have said that" which is clearly wrong when you think of Troy Deeney v Arsenal & Lascelles v Man Utd.
  16. It's not really half accurate from his perspective though is it? He played England once and they spent a large portion of the game playing poor football. You can forgive him for thinking this 'new-look' England he was expecting was a load of nonsense. Thinking? Yes. Saying it to the media afterwards? Nah. Maybe his etiquette was a bit off there, aye, fair enough.
  17. I completely agree. But some people are really fucking touchy over these Croatian players' comments No doubt about it. Are they not more touchy over being called touchy and being told to 'get over it' though? I dinna like, it's maybe a factor sure, but to even raise the "it's not coming home" thing as a grudge to hold with Croatia is sad as fuck, it's all an in-joke until someone else uses it against us and all of sudden they're being arseholes, howay man I have no issue with that like I'm assuming that was a blatant light hearted wind-up. Some do though, and it's not unreasonable to suggest that's being too touchy or easily-offended (which is what that post was aimed at, maybe we're referring to completely different things here?)

  20. Yup. Starting to think all these foreigners are just thick as fuck. Brexit seems more appealing by the minute. Holy shit man, I can't believe how touchy people are getting because a Croatian player said "it's not coming home" with a smile on his face. Jesus christ Don't be daft man. I wasn't replying to Semtex as such. I just think being offended by an opposition player playing us off with our own 'in-joke' is ludicrous

  22. At least in 4 years time when he's winning the World Cup with Spain we can go "we made him, 1/11th of the that trophy is ours".
