  1. One thing that couldn't be levelled it him was not being there for chances
  2. Brighton manager hired for the least Brighton-esque operation in the sport not working out, Who'd have thunk it?
  3. 14' stoppage time at Huddersfield where old Warlock leads
  4. Momentum of a new manager notwithstanding - Carrick's looking some boy. 6th bottom or something when he took over. They're going to catch Sheffield United.
  5. Hate not being able to give the likes of these our best crack. Obviously wouldn't grumble with a point and no injuries and suspensions
  6. Leeds v Southampton next. Interesting.
  7. Sounds like its about revenge for the 6 in a row with some. I'm totally placated and secure with the way things are I don't feel that way or the need to have them be anything more than a laughing stock/harmless lower league neighbur that we'll likely finished ahead of every season for the rest of our lives. That's anything but a losers mentality possibly. We won thirteen league games in a row then lost at home to Grimsby without scoring. Football isn't science. Just personally us playing them would be the first time in a decade i'd actually be watching them live so it might be isolated but certainly applies to me. (the oblivion thing).
  8. They are in oblivion now for as much as it concerns us and have been for years. Playing them would bring them out of that. Besides it doesn't work like that. We've had by far the better team several times and won shit games narrowly or didn't win at all. Even if we actually did it wouldn't be as much of a hammering as them not even being good enough to get to play us.
  9. Owen and Inzaghi are the worst footballers there. Crespo was like a similarly raw but better version of both. Ronaldo, Shearer, Shevchenko, Crespo, Adriano, Larsson Inzaghi, Owen
  10. More nuts than wanting local rivals to be promoted? I didn't want better Newcastle sides than this to play them. What's to gain for us anyway but especially when every game is important again to us now? Aside from the fact nearly every one has been a bad game. - The mackems did that in Washington which actually is 50/50 (or was) when they got to a final. I say was because some shop fronts already looked like that before we'd reached a final. Takes me back to the 90s
  11. That's always the solution to everything. How coincidental. The formation of the Premier League, the formation of the Champions League, every re-jigging of the Champions League (cant have no Spanish/English/German/French clubs qualifying legitimately now), expanding of the Champions League, Super League, TV deals, this rule, that rule
  12. Guess with Leeds you know you'll be sacked in a year if you're anywhere near the relegation zone, which at best they will be and at last some managers are factoring the upheaval and reputational damage into it and not just jumping at a PL job that's tempting on the face of it.
  13. Lets so now You're arrogant You've failed at every job you've ever had in football You made a tit out of yourself at a cup final.... you could replace Greame Souness when he retires as an expert
  14. Chasing the dream started under O'Leary. spent fortunes and got worse. Was just spending for the sake of spending in the end. Fowler was a disaster and Seth Johnson I've no idea what anybody ever saw in. That's how we got in the Champions League under Sir Bobby. Get Vinny in.
  15. Just realised one of the people complaining (for lack of a better term) reacted like this when we drew with Bournemouth at home. Since then we've not lost a game and got to a cup final. No compunction.
  16. Defeats, draws, injuries, suspensions happen. We had to play Rob Lee up front by himself under Keegan at times and in UEFA cup Quarter-Finals under Dalglish despite having a good enough squad. If had a bigger squad we could still be in a situation like this where were a bit threadbare. Dont know that it can be said it was a mistake to sell Huckerby and Kitson because who could have known Shearer and Ferdinand would both be injured at the same time Tino was suspended. Just got to get on with it.
  17. Just about the last thing I'd do is break up the Schar-Botman combo, but Schar could go midfield. With Burn (and some rejigging) Lascelles taking his place at the back. Ideally Burn with Targett at left-back. Its an imperfect world for us at this stage without a huge squad of quality replacements in each position
  18. City have as expected responded but it still feels damp-squibby really rather than something to take into the rest of the season f*cking nothing game
  19. It used to be a given and expected that sides would hit a tricky patch during a season and have to ride it out. Even title winning sides in times that weren't as liable for dominance as this. Who are we that we shouldn't be allowed to experience that at this point? Keegan's sides did, Fergie's sides did (nearly let Blackburn in, did let Arsenal in), Blackburn themselves did, Arsenal might be now. Were having a great season, were going places, in the grand scheme of things its not much to have to suffer. None us know if it was unnecessary. Shifting some of our fringe players appeared to be a gift horse we cant look in the mouth prior to Jan. Are we not basically one centre-midfielder away from everyone being placated? Which they tried to sort by all accounts. Point it out maybe but wouldn't go as far as criticising in the grand scheme of things
  20. I've been thinking about the January/February slogs under Keegan in 92/93 and 93/94 Anybody over-reacting amidst either of those (didn't experience anybody doing so personally) amidst our best seasons in years was rewarded in the end by looking quite the reactionary. Its fine to criticise drawing at Luton/Southend, losing at Wimbledon and at home to Southampton provided within the context of those games not questioning the manager, players, owners on a wider scale. Were going places now like we were then. You cant win every game. Think people are forgetting because its been so long since we were good that it was almost a given for even good teams to have a sticky patch at some point. Exceptional title winning sides apart. There's only a dip at all because were good.
  21. To put it simply. He very rarely plays well.
  22. Spurs get stuffed at Leicester, Man United drew 2-2 at home to a team than never got out their half against us. Its football. Not the team highest in the league wins ball
  23. A succinct ASM summary. Some are beyond the amusing to watch stage now and some aren't is probably what divides us
  24. Watched Wimbledon v Liverpool 97/98 for a bit the other day. Learned Liverpool prior to Souness had only been outside the top two once in 19years. The expert managed 6th twice and was 10th when he was sacked.
