Cambridge fans nowhere near as up for their cup final as they were a 3rd round game against us. Its a funny old game Saint.

Wor Flags: visit worflags.org.uk/donate to support future displays
Wolfcastle replied to wor jackie's topic in Football
Bloke covering it for Five Live said "“the atmosphere here has been brilliant, its felt like a Champions League match at times” nowhere is booming all the time every game, wasn't even like that under Keegan, but comparatively it was by far the best then and probably is now. -
What's the flag nonces thing anyway, they're the ones with the penchant for not fully formed flag displays instead of proper ones, if anything they're the flag nonces, in fact, forget about the flags

His personality is made for us too. Would be a bit wasted on somewhere less radge.

Its a bit like the KK era. Players that were a bit suspect before were able to sign off on a high. Brock in nets at Birmingham, Ranson filling in for Beresford, Stimpson even providing an assist against Brentford. Appleby, Nielson, Howey and Watson home-grown clean-sheet in a thrashing over Coventry in the PL where they conceded at least 3goals every game to Tranmere 2years earlier. *Not that I'm suggesting he's not given himself a chance however.

This c**t cost us Europe this season. -
Probably only happened nearly every year pre-Ashley but yeah embarrassing to have fallen a few places behind a club you were only ahead of cos an arsehole deliberately ran it into the ground (and even then only semi-regularly)

Got to be our best ever loan signing. No offence to Paul Moran and Facundo Ferryra -
Shut up you fanny

Was like a testimonial. Think we'd forced five good saves in the first three minutes or something.

You can't go touting decent scouting and suggest Batshitiya surely.

The touches aren't bad either.

Just watched QPR at home again, experienced at the time as about an average performance, game and atmosphere. Blew my mind how good it was - game was non-stop, atmosphere strong and incessant after some second-half controversey and more dominant than I remembered in the nerves. Anything after that Easter Saturday game is all pain however you're right.

Newcastle United vs Crystal Palace, Wednesday 20/4/2022 @ 19:45 (No UK TV)
Wolfcastle replied to LRD's topic in Football
Could have done without all this 5 wins in a row at home and Sir Bobby's record business trying to jinx things, Its going to be exactly like Wolves I fancy, pretty sure ASM is only starting one of the next two and can't figure out which would be for best. More minutes for Gayle against his former club would sit well too -
Just seen the link to this on the 'favourite Newcastle game thead' and thought I'd mention that in English Y11 we were given the task of writing a short story with the title "safe". Usually I'd have writers block but this came to mind pretty quickly and got it down, ending with...."we were safe". Got it cringingly read out as an example of story telling, wrote stuff like the tickertape resembled Buenos Aries circa 1978. Wish I'd kept it honestly, the only time I put any thought into anything the last 4years was there.

David Kelly's penalty against Cambridge for his hat-trick, Peacock was the taker but Kelly was on a hat-trick and the crowd willing him to get it chanted an impromptu "Kelly, Kelly" demand. Peacock finally relented. Pressure all round on that kick, he scored, and Peacock got his goal anyway later on. Tino's second v Metz. Controlled a goal kick perfect, mazy run through defenders but the nonchalant 'this is too easy and I'm bored' finish made it. Clark finishing off about 25 passes against Sheffield Wed in 96.

Vagueley remember hearing it was designed to do so but can't imagine it being battle tested whilst Man United played. (*or when Villa and Liverpool only half-filled it for their semi) At the first semi against Sheffield United I wondered whether accounting for the likes of us bouncing around it had been taken into consideration.

Rotherham are the latest to be cursed by wasting their time on that competiton.
-
Probably also the aforementioned Leicester 7-1 (more than one reason) and Barcelona Tino. Shout out again for the Villa 5-1 in 94 - great stories. Spurs 3-3 in 95 is about perfect, had eveything, good quality, great atmosphere. and Stoke away in 95 - watched it back a few times, its just liquid football

That's it I'm getting into gambling

O'Brien #1 at the mackems is under-rated. Coming out of the midfield minefield of a derby in those days to measure that sublime chip so precisely was so out of context. Hottiger's pre-Roberto Carlos Roberto Carlos at Blackburn in the cup is up there too, hated them for whatever reason at the time so was like my derby. Also let out an orgasmic eek when Clark cocked to score the winner - so you'd have to consider that a favourite

That shirt is a homage to their away shirt 90-92, I think the first time they wore it was at Anfield in that 4-0 loss (Beardsley hat-trick wasn't it?), so think it will be 4-0.

Yep. Expected applause but signing YNWA was very cool. Any like dislike or respect of CR redundant in this regard, I'm sorry for him and good luck to him and his partner.
