  1. ha cycle of life - we sell promising young player for massive profit to Brighton > Brighton flip a profit on him a couple years down the line to Chelsea > Chelsea sell a casino to themselves to cover it > everyone's a winner, except football and common sense obviously
  2. The sad brutal reality is - Brighton are buying him with a mind to selling him for a profit themselves (they'll be lauded for doing the exact same thing in that event)
  3. Happened with hail in the Spanish cup final in 95, think they played the remaining 12minutes or whatever a couple days later. Understand that but there's far more chance of a fan running on the pitch and attacking someone given the stewarding at this tournament
  4. If it was Chelsea we'd be rueing how they've managed to get a massive wedge in for a player that's never kicked a ball for them. with ffp/psr romance is dead - forget about bringing in young players with the intent of them breaking into the first team more than selling them to fund other aspects of the club, forget about local players being kept just for the feels of it, forget about buying players your club can actually afford. Its shit but don't hate the player hate the game
  5. talking about our owners and Villa's owners as having 'fucked up' because they spent and got their teams into the champions league but spent a bit too much relative to permitted income to comply with ridiculous new rules designed especially to do this to clubs like us and Villa - is normalising this bullshit far too much. Even if that's the world were in now. Its like saying someone 'fucked up' by having their left arm offside
  6. We want them to push spending as far as they can don't we? Certainly not blaming them for that when I know they'd be blamed for not doing that.
  7. Its not even close for me. We'd be no less likely to challenge for the CL with a good team and points handicap than we would by selling our better players, being a modest team without a points handicap - plus we'd get to see better football and more wins. Its an absolute farce they've created. That they think its worth all this just to keep certain clubs happy and entitled.
  8. Always wondered how it felt to support someone other than Rangers/Celtic in Scotland. The hopelessness, dreamlessness and pointlessness of the unbridgeable gap outside of a one-off miracle and them hovering around any finds you unearth. Thanks to PSR/FFP, like every other club that wasn't by an empty chair when the clubs by the empty chairs turned the music off, I wonder no more.
  9. Wenger was quite happy to forge his reputation at Monaco. The original financial dopers with their 3,000 gates, modest history and yet superstar players.
  10. Its even less fun thinking that we probably wouldn't be allowed under current rules to make that signing - despite getting back more than treble the investment a few years later after record breaking goal-scoring - the sort of football thing of its first 150years that did okay that new rules don't and cant take into account.
  11. He's exactly what they need. Unfortunately for them.
  12. Its based on a lot more than throwing two cups like. Been going on like this for decades.
  13. We'd consider it demanding if it were Brazil or Argentina but this objectively is more like Denmark or Belgium fans complaining about winning a group but not in the manner they expect - which I don't recall England ever doing
  14. Cant think of a worse group in European Championship history.
  15. Shocking turn of events - Mitro booked for losing his head (had his shirt pulled and could have been a pen though)
  16. Get knocked out at the first hurdle with better attacking talent like in 2000 perhaps
  17. Denmark Serbia is no treat either. Group of bored to death.
  18. Any odds on an ear-cupping goal celebration? Ton of criticsm from the media and fans has served them well in the past
  19. Just make signing a 'no compete' clause mandatory upon Premier League membership. Ambition is becomming a dirty word when until very recently its precisely what fans wanted and dream of for their clubs, now its like some sort of perverse anti-football fantasy
  20. Weird the amount of effort they'll put in and amount of rules they'll change to keep the red clubs/Spurs happy. They ought to have a think about why they're putting so much legislation into football and jumping through so many hoops instead of just doing so and whether its worth it just to preserve a self annointed status quo. Especially if its fear of them breaking away.
  21. Opportunistic browsing given Everton's apparent need to sell and last year of his contract - if that's not reflected in the cost, no sweat we'll just stick, were the ones doing him/them the favour here that might have worked out well for all parties. Like to think we could revist in January if needs be with injuries for a more reasonable sub20mill fee
  22. Perhaps in our case but Chelsea for sure sign so many that they know only a few will play any amount of games for them and the rest are just assets to trade off.
