Weâre not finishing 7th. At least it is highly unlikely.

I can confirm there was some a whole hunk of grist for this threadâs mill tonight.

End of February update tracking their season in comparison to their best, their average, their worst, and the PL average for 18th place (...oh!! the early season optimism). Falling away from their best trajectory now, but still doing relatively great, i.e. well above their average.

Preseason prediction of when we would be likely to pick-up sufficient points (using PL average points per final position) to finish sixth, based on strength of opposite and whether home or away, looks pretty grim. No surprises there, but we have now fallen below our PL average of 1.40 points per game. The 'shit brown' line I have added to the chart. With 10 games left, we would have to pick-up 26 of the available 30 points in order to reach the average points total for a 6th place finish. So that's not going to happen. 58 points would normally be enough for 7th, even that would require 22 points, so at 2.2 points per game which we may as well also put that in the impossible category too (given best we have ever done over the curse of a season was 2.05 ppg--I am leaving the typo).

I may be oversimplifying things, but do we need any other explanation than we donât have strikers who are contributing what we bought then to contribute, we have played more games than any other team in Europeâs top leagues, we have injuries to key players in an already limited squad (size wise at least). Unless you blame the manager for all of the above, who would do better?

For alliterative reasons, he could then move out Birtley/Chester le Street way and become Chairman Howe from Barley Mow.

Shame Howe didn't see it (post match interview). He'll no doubt see the pictures and appreciate it anyway. -

What a great season he is having. Whilst I have never slated him, I owe him an apology because I evidently underrated him.

True, also lost possession a lot. Goes with the territory/style of play to some extent, but he needs to mix it up a bit. Fire more one touch passes away/take less time and touches (sometimes).

Last night saw Eddie pull level with Sir Bobby on managing 16 NUFC Champions League games. Sir Bobby won one more game, but they both accrued the equivalent of 25 points. Only one winner when comparing performance in the cups, Eddie romping it with a 65.3% win rate overall. See below broken down by competition compared to our next most successful PL era managers who managed European games. I've left out KK's Anglo Italian games (as competition was only open to second tier sides).

What do you reckon the odds are for getting a home ticket for this on 10th March? Iâm member but also prepared to try different âroutes.â (Iâm already up in Newcastle from the 11th/Wednesday night but could come a day early).
