I’m as disappointed as the next fan, but this stuff happens and is one of the reasons you need good depth in the squad.

I’ll post an update next week from the preseason analysis I did, looking at what the points total trajectory should look like in order to finish tenth or above. This takes into account quality of opposition (based on last season’s standing) and home and away fixtures as they fall across the season. We’re basically one point ahead of where we should be for this. September is an important month.

It is disappointing, but I’d much rather be putting out a weakened team away to Liverpool (or Man City) than to anybody else. For example, would be gutted to be understrength home or away to to Man Utd or, to a lesser degree, Chelsea, Spurs or Arsenal. Particularly at home. Everything points towards us looking forward to an exciting season where we can consistently compete and genuinely have a chance of beating anyone.

Keep-up Worthy. Nobody is thrashing that team. Three of the best players not on the pitch, very little quality in reserve, and still manage 21 shots and the majority of possession at Wolves. We’re organised, dogged and committed. Not wide-eyed, dog shit and should-be-committed

To be fair, TCD you weren’t the only one who thought what happened on Sunday, in various ways, altered our transfer priorities with the necessary loosening of the purse strings. It isn’t an either or, though, he was one of many we were interested in and when the situation changes (perhaps closer to top six/four than we thought, the sheer weight of passion in the crowd, the injury to Wilson) good business men/clear thinkers change their responses. Howe himself intimated there was a revision to the provisional plan after Sunday.

Bit of a humorous twinkle in his eyes too, think he’ll be a good laugh fit in well with the team. Hope he’s really happy here; finds some interests/ways to escape the goldfish bowl of being a United player.

Still waiting membership pack. Regardless of how underwhelming it may be, that is pretty shoddy. Must be about six weeks now?

Hadn’t twigged that he had been playing with David Silva (albeit an aged version). Bruno had similar vision to see, and ability to produce, cheeky passes through the back line. Can’t wait to see the first such link-up that produces a goal.
